You might be able to get at the band adjuster if you remove the pan. Sometimes you can. Do you have the A4LD trans in there?

It might be leaking from the speedo cable/cruise control sensor. It should have an o-ring on it.

It takes quite a bit of torque to start it to crush. I usually start them with an impact.
