I believe either every 3rd or every 5th round is a tracer.

Yup, every 5th round. The M134 is a "smaller" version of the M-61 20mm cannon we've got on Hornets.

Yup, every 5th round. The M134 is a "smaller" version of the M-61 20mm cannon we've got on Hornets.

Of course the big boy of this devastating little family is the GAU-8/A "Avenger" 30mm Cannon that sits in the nose of the mighty Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt II, otherwise known as the "Warthog". Best tank killer ever built. It fires a 15oz depleted uranium armor piercing projectile, with a muzzle velocity of 3250 ft per second. Think of it folks, the projectile weighs almost one pound and it's traveling faster than a .30 06 bullet. :wow
