Where did you guys pick your vehicles up from?

What did you get them for? Trying to see how much mark up is in those vehicles and how the payments are for them.

NOICE! The EVOs would make for a nice daily driver....don't forget about the mighty STI's also....last I heard subaru had really attractive financing including STI's.

Contact Kim Becker at Frank Gentile Subaru in Racine if you want to inquire....great person to work with

yea, i did the payment calculator thing online that is always wrong anyways, but it came out to like a 800/month payment on the EVO for a lease. i was like holy crap.

I think i'd prefer the bigger car feel of the EVO after driving them. I swear to god i'm not modding them, haha

there are TONS of used EVOs around....Tons. A guy at my work has a 04 white one that his wife drives that he can't sell. All stock. 20K on the ticker. He wants $23,500 for it. Try and find a used STi on a lot. There aren't hardly any

super cool without a wing....VERY hard to find though. Big wing = cash money for the dealer! :rolf

Haha, Keith...

Funny thing is I had been thinking of selling the Z and building the house I've wanted for awhile now.

DEFINITELY would "de-wing" the thing. I think they look pretty cool that way.

I agree but the evo's have a slight advantage in looks. I love the front ends.

Not like STI's are ugly by any means though.

I say go with a wrx and spend some $$$ on it to make it as good as or better than an evo. I look at both the evo and wrx as being the same because of their same displacement, one just needs some boost motivation. Also, there is about a 10k difference in price for used, so you can buy it rather than lease it.

WTF are you going to do with a BMW?

CrawlinZ do not lease a sports car. Because as everyone knows it will eventually get modded.

BluBullet- i now have heard it all, i can see the sti and evo being in the same class but the base rex??? Those things are pathetic, and they look like garbage, sti's on the other hand look very good.

The only downfall i see with the evo is the lack of cruise control and crappy interior, i envy the sti interior.

On a side note, for the first time in a LONG time I saw a Subaru come out on top of a magazine comparison. Motor Trend just reviewed the Evo IX and the 06 STI. Amazingly, MT picked the STI. But, then again, they also stated that the cars are NEARLY identical, and a new 06 STI is cheaper then an EVO.

Bluebullet, I am a Subaru guy, and not even I would compare an EVO and a WRX....well, maybe now with the WRX having a 2.5ltr engine in them...but the suspension is still not there.

I would compare them....a few EVOs this summer got to see subaru taillights.
:rolf

No really though, subaru is never gonna throw everything at the WRX cuz they want you to spend the coin on the STi. The new 06's are better though stock...they even have the pretty red brakes!

Wow , I was looking at Evos too, ever since I stopped by the Mitsubishi dealer late one night. I like everything about this car (except the $ it would take to get one).

EvolvedRegal (or anyone) - are you serious that the Evo doesn't have cruise control? :wtf

EvolvedRegal (or anyone) - are you serious that the Evo doesn't have cruise control? :wtf

It's a street legal rally car. What do you need cruise control for???

jbiscuit
11-04-2005, 11:23 AM
I have cruise control on my wago....I think since I have owned it I have used it a grand total of 3 times! If you want cruise control, go buy a Camry

Syclone0044
11-04-2005, 11:29 AM
Hmmm I have the opinion that non cruise control cars are some form of a mild torture device. :D I made one trip to Illinois and back in a car that didn't have it, and I learned not to make that mistake again.

jbiscuit
11-04-2005, 11:31 AM
you would consider NOT buying an EVO, should cash flow etc not be a problem, if is DIDN'T have cruise? I guess I don't think it is that big of a necessity

Syclone0044
11-04-2005, 11:34 AM
Yes - you're 100% correct. (For me at least -) I think it could be the kind of thing that I'd be regretting for years to come. Maybe I just like to take long drives and/or am a really big wimp?? :goof I tend to get speeding tickets when I dont use the cruise on a long drive and my foot/ankle gets really sore, so it just doesn't work for me.

Mmmmmmm 540 6-speed! YUMMY!

Just remember that those 4L engines from bimmer are very expensive to maintain and repair. The electrical bugs are everywhere! I don't reccomend this car.

If you plan on the German makes, go Audi. Get a 2.7T w/ quattro. It isn't an evo for speed, but you do get some REAL luxury with it.

BluBullet- i now have heard it all, i can see the sti and evo being in the same class but the base rex??? Those things are pathetic, and they look like garbage, sti's on the other hand look very good.

What is the major styling differences other than the hood and wing?

Bluebullet, I am a Subaru guy, and not even I would compare an EVO and a WRX....well, maybe now with the WRX having a 2.5ltr engine in them...but the suspension is still not there.

I'm just looking at 2.0L vs 2.0 L of the engines and performance of the older ones; one has more boost.

Mabey the differences of perspective is that I am using the idea of taking a 3-4 year old wrx for 11-14 grand and then spending some $ to make it better. You can spend and extra %100-150 and get a new car if you see it fit. In the end, you can get the most bang-for-the-buck with a used wrx and investing in some performance upgrades.

M'kay, time for me to "weigh" in ;) on this subject. First of all, IMO, the EVO REALLY needs the wing. Have you ever seen a regular Lancer? Yeeesh, what an ugly car. The greenhouse is sooooo high on those things that they are reminiscent of an SUV or a Toyota Echo. :durr That roof line is just horrible. The high wing helps to take some of the emphasis off of that repulsive body line. EVO + Wing = acceptable looks. I will say that the front end of an EVO looks pretty mean, in a Japanese Animé sort of way.

Interior wise, the EVO really shows it's economy car roots. With the exception of the Recaro seats, the interior is CHEAP looking. For $30k+ I should be able to expect a better looking IP and upholstery than what comes standard on a Kia Rio. :chair:

I cannot state from personal experience, but I can relate from numerous magazine articles I've read, that the ride is supposed to be so stiff as to be tedious for anything longer than a basic work commute. Handling, on the other hand, is said to be stellar. However, the C6 Z/06 is proof that the two don't have to be mutually exclusive, so why deal with it if something else (Sti?) will give you what you are looking for?
(Maybe the reason Mitsubishi doesn't equip the EVO with Cruise Control is because they figure nobody in their right mind would want to drive it far enough to warrant it's use? :goof )

I feel that the STi would make a better DD than the EVO. A friend owned one for a while and I had a chance to drive it on a few occasions. The ride wasn't bad, the acceleration was at least as fast as my SS was when stock, and the overall look was better. (Better looking roof). With the more attractive body, you could at least use the standard WRX wing as opposed to the STi wing, and not look so cartoon-ish.

If you really want my opinion on a cool looking, great handling car that is made for someone OVER the age of 20, you'll take a serious look at a VW Golf R32 (http://www.modernracer.com/vwr32.html) . It retails for around $30k and it has hatchback functionality. It is not as powerful as the EVO or STi (240hp N/A V6) but it is AWD and it's interior far and away eclipses those other two vehicles. And if turbo power is what you need, HPA makes a Twin Turbo (http://europeancarweb.com/tuned/0401ec_vwgolf/) kit for it... :D

Plus everyone has forgotten that when the sti and the evo finally hit the shores the the sti did have ACD while the evo did not. Every magazine for the past 2 years have always picked the evo. If you want to be a puss and want a comfy ride get a friggin caddy, these 2-3 cars are meant to be driven not pampered. If you want me to take you for a ride on how and evo's suppose to be driven let me know.

Yes the ride is very harsh, i had a chance to drive a pretty stock evo the other day and the ride was very nice compared to mine.

you are talking to a guy that has a whole heim joint rear suspension setup on his LCA's, PHR, etc.... and a Wolfe Solid rear sway bar.... this thing would be a caddy compared to my car, haha
