Well..for 2 weeks in a row...the turnout for "Slicks Only" has been extremely LOW.

so, since I already paid for the barrell of VHT and I'm losing my ass on the track rentals I have decided to have a "End of the year sticky track" party.

LEFT lane = Slicks only

Right lane = anything alse

I am going to GLUE THE **** OUT OF THE TRACK...so, be ready.

Gates will open at 3 PM!!!! Be there when we open for MAXIMUM "HOT" LAPPAGE! Because if the turnout sucks again...we'll be closed by 8 PM (again).

Spread the word...the more people we get, the LONGER we can stay open.

Racing = $40

Spectator = $15

Gates open at 3 PM

Racing starts at 4 PM

We race until...????? (It depends on weather and turnout)

I support your "slicks only night" and think it is a great concept. I would love to see these nights be successful.
Personally (and from what I hear from others) the main reason for the lack of turn out is the entry fee. Alot of people are not willing to pay $40 to race when they can race the night before and the night after for $28.

Look at it like this so you only get 20 cars at the price of $40 each ($800 total) OR you get 30 cars at let's say $30 each ($900 total) you would actually make alot more.

Just an opinion in trying to make this event successful. :thumbsup

Great idea, I will try to make it.

Question - is it going to be the Right or Left lane for street-tire cars? You said right, but the website says left:

""SUPER STICKY THURSDAY"
Slick only-right lane, open racing left lane. Extra VHT prep.
Last chance for a super-sticky track!
4pm -10pm $40.00 to race."

Part of the reason it's $40 is to "weed out" 18 second cars that go out to buy junk slicks (just so they can say they're on a slick)

It is an "Adult swim" for drag racers...Those who are looking for a Perfect track and dont want to wait in line to go say it TOTALLY worth the extra bucks.

The other nights may only be $28... but, its pot-luck as to how good the track will work (Depends on how many street tire'd cars are there)

For $40...IF YOU DONT HOOK...It wont be because of the track.

I apologize if my post came across as negative towards your event because that is not what I was doing.
I was just strickly stating from what I hear from alot of people why they don't take advantage of the positives as you just stated.

Again, I think it is a great idea and am a supporter of it.
I was just trying to give an example on how less $$ could actually make you more $$ since you stated that your are "losing your ass" with running these nights.

No bashing intended !!!

I'm going to try my best to make it.I really want to get my Grand Prix into the 11's before the season ends.
I'll have Hoosier QTP's up front and radials in the rear,so slick lane or street tire lane? Will both lanes be sticky.

TuffEnuff

Both lanes will be EXTREMELY Sticky... :D

hmm... i need slicks. then again, I'd prolly blow up my rear end and shake it to hell with massive wheel hop

it only matters for the actual POWERED/DRIVE tires. so i'd assume slick lane for you if you are running some QTP's

Then when you mod you can tell if your improving or not.

good idea, maybe I'll run her as is.

doubt my gutted box w/ K&N as well as Magnaflows w/ x-pipe netted me much at all. we'll call it semi-stock.

Wow, it was nice to feel my car finally hook up off the line at gld! Took 2 passes, 11.473 @ 123.05 was enough to make me happy in my mazda. Didn't want to push my stock 115k mile rearend too much :D. It looked like FastpacedGTP was having a good time flogging the gto, sorry I didn't say hi, everytime I saw your car you were either in the staging lane or halfway down the track. I will pay the extra $$ for a nicely prepped track :headbang

Took my pretty much bone stock, minus changed mufflers 2800 mile GTO to the track tonight.

My worst run of the night was a 13.78@107.64 on a 2.412 60' time.

if I could only cut a 1.9. I really need slicks cuz.....

My best run of the night (so close) was a 13.03@108.72

it better get better after more break in time (as everyone says happens on the Gen III and IV's), I'm happy, since it ran as advertised, but disappointed, as I tried and tried to beat that 13.03, only to lose it all in the first 60'. Every run between my 13.06 (2nd best run) thru the 13.78 were all plauged with problems. Bog. Wheelspin. Wheelhop. Missing the damn 2-3 once.

If I had slicks and cut a 1.8 mid 12's should be doable. If not, I'll just get it tuned and get those 12's w/out any other "performance mods" just tweaking of whats already there.

the track was great tonight consistant barkage of the 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4.

I forgot the 60' on the 13.03 was a 2.03

I hemmed and hawwed and almost went, but decided I need more time tuning before I drop $80 in fees/gas to race. Maybe Sunday.

Good times on the GTO!! :thumbsup I gave you positive Reputation for it (I give positive Reputation to almost anyone who posts a dragstrip report for their ride :)). Now I'm sure I'll get a shltload of negative reputation for posting this, like last time..

all the GTO'ers say I'll have no problem with 12's with a little more miles on her, not to mention most LS1 guys. guess I'll find out in spring.

Ill be there on the 3rd, if you want me to take for a pass or two... If i come back and hand you the shifter and a 12 sec slip... its not my fault :rolf

Give me two warm up passes to get used to the car, the 3rd, ill blaze the tires off with a nice warm up brake stand, and ill get you your 1.9-1.8 60 ft

I had gotten A B4C Z's street tires to hook hard enough to engulf the stock clutch on a 4500 rpm side step :D would have been a quick run... if the clutch grabbed again before 3rd gear. still went 15.2 @ 110 though :rolf

But ill be easy to it being the fact of the fragile clutch and wheel hop.

My car with a lid and sticky tires otherwise BONE stock with 1400 miles went 12.701 @ 110 back in the day. 1.9 60 ft. So what do you say there danny? ive never got to drive a GTO yet either...
