So Niki's GTX is throwing a SES light and missing. Code pulled is 0301 cylinder 1 misfire. I have spark, compression is at 155, injector seems to be working fine, and there is TONS of knock. The plug did look like the cylinder is running real rich. any ideas?

Your hearing knock(at idle?) or logging knock from a sensor?

Im hearing knock at about half throttle and back out of it as soon as I hear it :wooo

Whoa, that's not good!

Bent (or broken :wooo) pushrod maybe???

It's been like this for a while now. I just finally started to dig into it. Ive let it go this far because she babies the car and never even gets it to knock.

If it were a pushrod, wouldnt it have let go by now or do you think it would take the abuse?

I had a bent pushrod the turned into a broken pushrod over quite a bit of time and abuse. After it broke, it sounded a lot like what your car is doing. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice.

It's not like the car is knocking, It's pre detonation knock.

change the plugs first, you have a scanner still, otherwise with a scan can see what the 02s are at and such. if you're doin the cruise tommorow i'll bring mine....

Thanks for the offer but I have to work tomorrow.

I have had this problem since I put the brand new plugs in. It was doing this before the new plugs as well. :confused

Pull the plug wire and swap it with a different one... if the misfire moves to the next cylinder... the wire is the culprit...

Do the same thing with the ignition coil packs... (but not at the same time as switching the wire... :goof )... swap it with one of the other ones, and test... etc..

If all is OK... swap the plug out.... An itty bitty tiny hairline crack in the insulator can cause misfires.....

If none of that BS works..... Pull the front valve cover and see if there's something out of whack...

If all else fails.. I can just remove the misfire code in your PCM so you dont have to look at the SES light... LMAO! :thumbsup

I've seen lot of problems with injectors clogging due to contaminated gas (In this area) causing lean miss. usually just one cylinder at a time

i'd try an injector flush (not just the pour in tank kind) one that done at a dealership with the machine

he said the plug is showing rich though.... it would look burnt (white) if it was leaning out.

I say swap plug and a wire see if problem moves.

the contamination in the gas loads up on the plug (looks like fouling)
and smells rich from the unburned gas from the miss

Just what i've seen

I'll check the coil pack tonight.

I did swap the plugs and swapped the wire to see what happened. Still a miss in cylinder 1.

I can actually disconecct cylinder 1's wire and it make no difference in the way the car is running.

Yep.. sounds like a bad coil pack.
