yes, yes...everyone is joking... and yes DSM will make U BROKE!!!!
a lot of people have respect for the SRT-4's. I was actually really close to buying one until a buyer for my car delayed my sale and made me rethink what I was selling. Car's are awesome and I think it's actually sweet that Dodge is stopping production on them, to hopefully gain them as a desired car among Tuners and colectors maybe....

They already are desired, and by stopping production it's just gonna drive the price up for used ones, better get one now before there's a gay 'rare' tag/15% markup on every one =P

Hands down dodge neon 1995-2005 can be the quickest car for the $$$$$$$$$$. Don't you think the Fox Body 5.0 Mustang would take that title???

Don't you think the Fox Body 5.0 Mustang would take that title???

That would be a hard one to argue because there like neons. You can buy a non running foxbody for $200-$600 ( thats what ive seen ) could be cheaper.

Parts are everywhere and cheap, 302's and 351's are great motors :thumbsup

And Mustangs were dirrected to CHICKS just like the NEON was :chair:

But VS. each other is a tuff call :wow

I could pull off low 12's to 13's spending about $2500 - $3500 :thumbsup

And thats including the car :rolf

Its funny how 95-2005 neons have interchangable parts everywhere

Really tuff to say which is the Best bang for the Buck because with the SRT-4 coming out its a whole new ball game.

From the dealer you can purchase SRT-4 pistons and rods and rings for $250 :wooo :wooo these can take 400-600 hp.

Also the SRT-4 turbo system is a Dirrect fit to the 2.0 DOHC motor that came in the 95-99 neons.

Oviously the 2.0 and 2.4 are different so heres the best part. Go and get a 2.4 from the older dodges sebrings/breeze/stratus ect. ect. hope that the crank is good and get it polished and cleaned up, the clearance will be the same as the SRT 2.4's ( thats if the crank hasnt been touched ) so the factory bearings will work.

This block is almost the same as the 2.4 blocks that are in the SRT-4's, the only difference is the bed plate design and oil squirters.

The oil pan,oil pump, timing stuff, water pump can be upgraded to SRT stuff :thumbsup

Here is a list from neons.org

PART PART NUMBER PRICE

UPPER GASKET SET 5101787AA $30.80
LOWER GASKET SET 5093452AA $25.25
MAIN BEARING 5012582AA $6.90 (4 REQUIRED)
THRUST BEARING 5093445AA $8.46
ROD BREARING 5093448AB $5.40 (4 REQUIRED)
TENSIONER 4884453AA $4.13 (BALANCE SHAFT CHAIN TENSIONER)
TIMING BELT 4621844 $54.29
PISTON/ROD ASSEMBLY 4884247AD $49.78 (4 REQUIRED)
RING SET 5093441AA $19.44 (1 REQUIRED)
IDLER PULLEY 4781569AB $30.25
TENSIONER 4781570AB $58.30
OIL PUMP 4884390AB $63.44
WATER PUMP 4884159AA $46.15

$600 or so.

So buy a older N/A 2.4 block for $200-$300 ( plenty out there)
Buy what I just typed for $600 ish
And pick up a used SRT-4 turbo for $250 ( if anything there going cheaper because alot of the SRT-4 guys are upgrading.

$1150 so far

IC piping should cost no more then $150 if you do it yourself :thumbsup

Buy a FMIC or side mount from Ebay

Also the SRT clutches fit on 95-99 neons with some trimming that can be done for $60 :wooo :wooo Clutches are $50 used from most srt owners. These factory clutches are strong as hell.

And the list go's on................................................ ........

Of course there are more things to be added but im pretty positive I could complete a neon for no more then $3500 and run some quick times.

And then theres also Nitrous that you could add but I dont know anything about it, just that when the motor wants to let go it goes BOOM :rolf

Also each car has its own potential, crowd, web sites, deals, headaches ect. ect. ect.

To each his own :thumbsup

But one thing I know is that in the 4cyl group neons are the best bang for the buck :D

Ok im done start the tomato throwing :tomato :tomato :tomato :tomato :tomato :tomato

You can take a B13 Sentra SER to the 11-12's on $3500 turbo'd, all using factory turbo parts for the most part. Factory shortblock with just cams, car will be junky looking, but it wouldn't be all that hard at all. Guys have gone 11's on T28 cars. Plus, imported SR20DE's can be had for 300-400 at most. So if you happen to blow up a motor (can hold over 400whp without blowing) you can replace it really cheap.

So the neon may be a great bang for the buck idea but seriously how fast are you gonna go with the fwd inexpensively. Nothing against what you are saying since I am all for building any kind of car but there is no arguing with the speed capability of the rwd vehicle over fwd. just my 2 cents
