TuffEnuff
09-27-2005, 12:46 AM
Well it's like this...the details are still being worked out.... BUT...

I THINK it's going to be 1/8th mile and run in the grass right next to the track so, we can still have the bleachers for spectators...and the big scoreboards to show the times!

We will start with GRASS drags until the weather gets cold enough THEN we will switch to SNOW DRAGS!

*we* (the track and I) are working on getting the timing equipment right now...then I'd like to interface it with the scoreboards used by the dragstrip already.

THIS IS FOR EVERYBODY! Race your friends, your enemies, race for BEER, money, fun, ect.

once I get things going smoothly I MAY add some class racing but, I will NEVER get rid of the fun runs!

Snowcross...

Besides dragracing, I'd like to set up a snowcross track with jumps and stuff but, again, I am still working on the details. stay tuned and watch the GLD website for up to date info.

PLUS I am thinking about adding a WINDING trail course that people can time with a stopwatch!

SOOOOOOOooooo..... winter wont have to suck too bad because I am also working on a SNOW MAKING machine too!

If anybody wants to be a part of making this happen please contact me at 847-436-0333 I could use all the help I can get! PLUS if you know any place that would like to sponsor the event please let me know ASAP!

Brian

I would definately be interested in this. I have two sleds that I will be racing this year. Any possibility on a ice track? I know most of the radar runs/drags are held on ice for sleds with picks and hard pack for sleds with no pics. People that are serious about racing usually have their sleds set up for ice meaning, running a speed track with about .25 lug and chissels to hook up better. This is the way one of my sleds is set up now. As a family we have 7 total sleds.

Joe, i work with a guy with a modded 98' ZRT600 triple that would run ya on crooked lake this winter hahah he also just picked up a full race T-cat, that makes an ass load of HP.

Tom, the modded ZRT 600 wouldn't even be a challenge. If Cedar Creek conquers me again, I will have the 05 1000cc Mach Z. This thing is 170 hp bone stock and weighs less than the triple/triples. This sled bone stock will radar between 125-130 on the gun!! A set of jaws pipes and Bikeman head will net 195hp :D The modded T-Cat may be a bit of a pain in the arse, though. Got I need snow :alcoholic

This may be true but in what distance? Sounds more like a top speed. Awesome sled though. We should set up a "run what you brung" somewhere around here this winter for fun. I will be working on setting up my F6 for ice drags this year as well. Should give most all 700's (besides F7's) a whoopin and even give some 800's a run.

This guy ran a turbo'd RX1 with this ZRT at crooked lake this past winter, 3 times in a row and they were dead even off the line and through most of midrange, then the RX1 started pulling up top.

I havent driven alot of fast sleds, but this ZRT i was honestly scared to go past 1/4 throttle with the little to no snow on the ground when i rode cuz it would hook so good. its was insanely quick to me.

Im not saying this guys T cat would beat the RX1, but 180 hp triple outta give it a run for its money, hes gonna be doing some fancy studs and suspension stuff to make it hook best it can on ice, id image that turbo'd rx1 you know must be murder to hook, with all that torque coming on all at once.

The new mach z in 1000ft will never see 123mph stock.that speed is a prostock 7 or 800...tripple.heck there is a guy with a new mach z 1000 that runs just under that with work done to it in a 1/4 mile...I am a long time doo fan with several mach z's from 800cc on up to 1100 cc and run 9.30's in the quarter mile but that costs alot of money to go that fast,my new engine should run 8.40 something when all dialed in...

Thats true but in a top speed run, it is very possible. **** 123 is killer in 1000'. My sled should be putting down anywhere between 275-280hp this winter and I am hoping for 130ish in 1000'

JC70SS

with 280 h.p you better run all of 130mph..problem being is to get it and keep the thing hooked up..our high h.p sledsrun 280-300h.p and seen speeds of 142mph in 1000ft

It hooks up real well the way it is set up. I have the limiter straps sucked all the way in, shock spacer in the rear, and a front lowering kit. I am also running a speed track with something like 274 chissels. This winter though I am going to change out the rear skid to either a Wahl Bros or a Anderson Racing. Man this has me all excited for winter already.

Jsho13
09-29-2005, 07:48 AM
Back to the racing, I was just thinking this morning how badly the track is going to get torn up if the races are on snow. Just think of the starting line. And IF they decide to push more snow up to the starting box it will never pack down good enough. Just a heads up because I KNOW that sleds will tear the crap out of the starting line. It only takes a couple and you will have a pretty big hole.

They will not be running on the actual track, that would tear the **** out of it in no time flat, from my understanding it will be in front of the grandstands on the grass area...makes most sense, also were will a hot pit be set up. because there not gonna want guy's running around the actual pit area with a studded track again tearing the asphalt up,that would be the end of that real fast..

No you understood me wrong. I am saying that only running a 660-1000' race is a bunch of crap. The guys I race against we do all out runs to determine top dog. I for your sled can run 130mph in 1000ft :wow :wow If that is the case as in the ZRT 1108 that is going to supposedly be 280hp  , good luck riding that anywhere but an ice strip.

I know that but I was talking about if you are running in snow along the grandstands, it will be down to the grass in now time. Most any sled can dig at least a 6" hole when you punch it out of the hole.

JC all that sled is designed for is an Ice track so its a completely different kind of sled. Although I can understand what you mean running for a while, when I lake race with my F6 we always run a pretty good distance

I can tell you that the track where we are suppose to race on ,,is very very rough, anything other than a stock suspension sled will not work out, not to mention a prostock or mod.I ran over that track this last saturday with my golfcart and could not find a smooth area anyplace,I have been racing for many years and that track someone is defietly gonna get hurt, unless they fill it in and smooth it out.I for one would not want to run my prostocks on there at 110 mph..big trouble just my humble opinion...Donny...

Plans are in the works to smooth it out. :thumbsup Work should begin next week along with installing a timing system

In the mean time...trailsleds should have no problem running in the grass.we are just doing flag races for now until the timing stuff comes in. (Flag races were a hoot and a half too! :headbang )

10-05-2005, 12:05 AM
i think it would be an awesome setup, but i think mostly along with fun racing maybe some type of brackets should be run, what ive noticed with radar runs is whoever can get away with the most mods without being cought wins, but you dont see a bracket style run much. and if quads are an option, maybe a flat track for them or a longer trail as well like you had mentioned, just a thought
