I have a wolfsburg Jetta... I suppose that's not a BMW. I bought it instead of a 98 M3.. being a college student the whole reliability factor of a newer car was quite appealing.

Couldn't resist the Euro-feel though, nothing compares.

German cars are incredible driving machines. I love the way my BMW drives. From now on I would only buy BMW for my everyday driver.

Not german but the next best thing.

99 Infiniti Q45T. Infiniti was very aggresive against the 740 with this car. It better be at $71,000 brand new. :wooo

Anyways, Next car will be an 01 or 02 740IL

I like big cars. Even a 5 series is to small for me.

C'mon now... anyone with a BMW doesn't have time to be sitting online wasting their precious time on a car forum.
They're far too busy planning out that Stevens deal, working on their mergers & acquisitions, and buying new pairs of power sunglasses to match their closet full of wrinkle free power suits & power ties to impress their fellow co-workers, who they think they're above anyways, but just to belittle them further, because after all, they are the greatest!

Dad Has a 04 325CI. Looks bad ass but is as fast as a 6 speed 04 Si. I do not think the cars are worth their money. Lot more cars out there for better money in my opinion.

They're cheap so the up & coming jr. legal partner can say while cracking his knuckles "yeaaap I drive a BMW, I'm going places.... mostly to the dry cleaners and that trendy new sushi bar"

They're cheap so that hot new secretary can say with a smug look on her face and a new DK 3piece on: "yeaaap I drive a BMW, I'm going places.... mostly to get Mr. Kondos some coffee"

They're cheap so that the 17yr old ghetto thug from Germantown can cruise hwy and impress all the girls while saying "yeaaap I drive a BMW, and girls are all pretty much slutty clueless label whores, so I get my pick tonight!"

Drive one and see why people like them. very solid, very tight cars. Drive a 3 series then jump into a brand spanken new american car and tell me what you would rather drive.

People with taste drive BMW's. It's not a thing to impress others. It's a car for the driving enthousiast.

The 3's are worth the money if you don't mind a smaller car.

My dad just bought a 99 black on black 540I with a 6 speed yesterday :wooo :thumbsup

Very nicely said. After my dad drove my M3 for the first time he finally opened his eyes. This same guy who had grown up with muscle cars in his blood and works at Harley Davidson, sold his 1976 Trans Am 455 with 48,000 miles on it and bought a 2004 330CI. Don't get me wrong, he loved the shear power of the T/A, but he said the handling and acceleration of the BMW more than made up for it.

Those here that doubt a BMW is a fine drivers machine should go test drive one. Make sure you switch the traction control off by holding the button down for 5-10 seconds. The traction control light and the ABS light should illuminate if done correctly. International Autos has been pretty good to me about test drives. I drove a few new BMW's (including the new 6 series  ) while we were buying my wife's Mini. Now I'm not saying that driving a BMW will make you go out and sell your Camaro, Mustang, Corvette or whatever, but you will find out how balanced and fun a BMW is to drive.

Here's some pics of my dad's former car:

Tell your dad to stop in and say hi. We are done with meets this summer, but we have a ton of meets planned for next summer. Most involve Road America, picnics, photo shoots, cruises, etc.)

I saw that thing yesterday! You gonna sell it, or is that his toy? If so, let me know what you gotta get for it, I may be interested...

It's for sale. It will be his driver untill it sells. The car's power is amazing when mated with the 6 speed. What could be better? Black on Black :wooo .

Anyways, he is not out beating on the car but he does enjoy how the car feels. I havent asked yet but I believe $17,500 is the number on the car with 56k on it. I'll double check.

Edit: It's a 98 sorry.

We also just got a 2001 325xit wagon thats even a pretty cool little car.

Notice I didn't say the cars themselves were bad...

It's the 98.2% of the owners that are jaghole c0cksmiths that drive them. :chair:

I can respect that but I think the percentage is more like 50%

Most BMW owners really actually love the BMW product.

You can pretty much say that there is a percentage of people like that with just about any "specialty" car. How many people have you come across that drive f-bodies or Corvettes or DSM's for that matter that are jags or super cocky about what they have? They're everywhere, not just driving BMW's.

I may just have to stop by and check that 540 out. I LOVE those cars and its hard as he!! to find nice low mileage ones.

I just can't believe how well the car moves out. I have driven automatic 540's but this thing is a whole different animal.

First of all Murdoc158 your dad's T/A rocks, that is a beautiful car. Besides being a BMW enthousiast I am a huge fan of Pontiac's. Pontiac's always had this great shape to them. A very fast look for there GTO's and Firebirds. I am not a complete jackhole, I know my 325is isn't the fastest thing out on the street. However it does handle extremely well and the power is good. I wish I had more power like a M3. My BMW is my everyday driver, I won't even tell you what my toy is because everyone will just yell at me more.

Of the above 3 you mentioned? None really...
Well, vette owners drive 20 under the limit at all times, which really doesn't bother me except for the fact that they should be driving a civic if they didn't want to drive it like it should be :goof lol attention whores.

I would like to know what your "toy" is. You can PM me if your uncomfortable telling everyone. My good friend from Indonesia has a few BMW's, Mercedes, Ferraris, and a Skyline. I'm hoping to see them all eventually, but I've only seen his 2000 328i with full Hamann bodykit and wheels.

Dunno where you've seen those... be it freeway or on the streets, they go about as fast as they walk.

i drove 3 different BMWs for a short time, and i valeted tons of them, the only one i was ever impressed with was obviously a 2000+ M3. my favorite was the M5, the power was insane, but honestly, not one of these cars felt "better" in any way over others i drove. that M5 was a pile, prob due to owner neglegence, the interior was falling apart, everything squeeked, the suspension cracked when you turned it, the shifter felt horrible. the car has 10k on the clock. the rest other than the M3 were older ones. the powerbands are smooth, but nothing special to me. their autos are Getrags though usually, which rules.

Flight_740
09-17-2005, 09:31 AM
I find that so hard to belive that only one BMW impressed you and you drive a Grand prix everyday. :goof

The M5 had to have been neglected real bad. I have honestly never gotten into a BMW that the interior was falling apart in (besides those stupid window lock switches). I have yet to hear one squeeking either.

This is true, every BMW I have been in has been nice. The way everything look and the way the car felt was great. Much better then most other cars.
