Internet Explorer 6.0

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the browser.
3. Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
4. Click the "Programs" tab.
5. In the Email box, select the email program you wish to use.
6. Click the "OK" button

If you would like to read your Yahoo! email using a client such as Outlook Express, you will need to purchase the Mail Plus service

ah, because it only finds mail programs (executables), to launch, not web links. That's lame... maybe IE 7 will have that feature.

well it's a Microsoft product, so it has built in privledges that allow it to bend the rules :)

BUT

I win :D - http://help.yahoo.com/help/uk/mail/ext/ext-11.html

They changed the page for the U.S. but left it the same for the U.K. - odd.
Anyway...
If Internet Explorer displays a yellow security bar at the top, click on it and select Install ActiveX Control.
If a security warning comes up with Yahoo! Inc. as the publisher, click Install.

I got your answer too:

http://mail.google.com/mail/help/notifier/

When you have it installed, In the OPTIONS somewhere there is a box to check (use gmail for internet mailto: links) and another one to choose the browser to be used by Gmail Notifier.
Checking that box will open gmail for any email links you click.

It should be selectable after installing the Yahoo! Toolbar.
(which is the ONLY way to get it as an available option - lame)

If you don't have Yahoo! Toolbar v.7.2 or later for Internet Explorer installed, you’ll need to download it.

http://toolbar.yahoo.com/ie

Try rebooting after installing the toolbar, then going into the IE internet options/programs/email.

If you used FireFox, you wouldn't need to install anything :p
