Just reported on Fox News about 20min ago. Evidentally the EPA is lifting all of the regulations on fuel emmissions until 9-15-05 to attempt more "even" distribution of fuel in the short term.

So we might get some REAL gas for awhile, think it'll do anything for prices?

I doubt it.

Looking for a link to the story . . .

I just saw on fox news that oil went back down to $69 bbl. Now if we just had some refineries.....

It was 68.9 at lunch hour. But overall it spiked for a couple hours and then went down after this whole thing.

Why in their right mind would they lower prices when they can clearly see we're still buying the gas. C'mon... the CEO of BP needs his 4th Ferarri. 53% year over year profit increases... :chair:

Maybe it's cause it's not quite as bad as people claim it is. Remember the gas stations 9-11-01 at about 8pm? It was nuts. But it wasn't as bad as everyone thought at the time.

Oil is traded "wurlwide", and an impact to around 20% of our intake is really not enough for the entire world's trading capacity to change that much, especially when they know we've opened our reserve to compensate for it. They know we won't be dying to get our hands on it so they don't bid up the price like otherwise. Prices were above $70 until word was out that we were going to open the reserve.
