So what do you guys think of this thing?? Might just be my first new car! It looks REALLY nice! Small convertable with a 170hp I4. Nice 5speed, never heard of a Aisin? Oh and an Auto Adjusting Clutch?!

I'm not sure? I guess the target release is early 06? But thats just what I've heard? Gonna talk to the Army Car dealer guy and tell him to set me up as soon as saturn starts taking orders!

It looks like the Pontiac Solstice design they came out with about 3 years ago. Looks pretty sweet!

A few months back I read it's expected price is somewhere between $20-25k.
I think it will be a great addition to Saturn. It should definitly bring more buyers.

I thought it was supposed to get the ecotec.

I think it's ugly , but then again I don't like the solstice either.

Wait a year, a turbo Ecotec Solstice/Sky is coming! Rumors of a V8 prototype have surface, supposedly it's platform can carry the V8.

There's no way that little ecotec can compete with other cars in it's class i.e. Honda S2000...z4....mazda miata...well ok the miata maybe, but not the mazdaspeed miata.

Looks good, but doesn't sound too impressive.

that thing is pure seckz... It'll easily compete with teh s2000 because it's miles cheaper and looks a hell of alot better, along with all the "loyal" (lol nutjob) Saturn owners that will buy one.
I saw it at the autoshow too, *unf* :

There's no way to tell right now. We'll see when it comes out. My expectations is a low 14 car. With the right driver ;) Not car and drivers test dummies.

All these years and they still can't improve on the Quad 4's power, hopefully they at least improved on the head gaskets :rolf
180hp H.O. and 190hp W-41 from 2.3L :goof

I'm still wondering about this transmission with a self adjusting clutch. I've heard of em but never seen one.

The Sky/Soltice is built off of what GM calls the "Kappa" platform. It's a foregone conclusion that a turbo 2.0 liter based off of the Saab version of the Ecotec is coming, expect somewhere around 250 hp. GM has said that the Kappa platform is capable of carrying a V6 (yuck) or an V8 without too much modification. Rumor has it that there are several 6.0 400 hp LS2'd Soltices running around...fyi

I didn't notice this post before... Working at a Pontiac Buick dealership I learned from the guys that went to Solstice training that it's almost as quick as the S2000. They got to drive the Solstice, the S2000, and the Miata all next to eachother. The guys I talked with all said that it's not as quick, but it's good competition. It handles well, and is a blast to drive... They're supposed to hit the ground Late December of this year, to early Janurary... So that means we'll probably see 'em in March.. lol

The car looks awesome I bet it'll be up there in price though...does it only come in stick?

GTSLOW

Yes only in a manual transmission. But the prices the dealers are going to try to get upon realse is sending me elsewhere. I'm now looking for a 05 GTO on a lot in our area!

It looks better then the Solstice, but still not the greatest looking thing I've seen. I'll never buy one.

Hopefully they made it bigger inside then the Solstice. If you're over 5'10" you won't fit in the car. My knee kept hitting the steering wheel when trying to use the clutch. With the top down you'd be lucky to get a case of soda in the trunk. It takes up pretty much the entire trunk. And typical of GM half assing things, don't plan on stopping for fast food in the thing. They put the cup holder in the waterfall between the seats. So with the cupholder out, it is right in your right triceps. And anytime you shift you'd hit the cupholder. Not too mention I you'd need to be a contortionist to get the drink. It's a minor thing, but still annoying.

Mallet is stuffing LS1's in them. http://www.mallettcars.com/solstice-conversion.htm

Why are they only making 100?

Karps TA
11-14-2005, 09:50 AM
Cause they likely won't even sell that many. But if they say limited it makes people want them more.

Aisin makes great parts. they're very reliable and strong. it should be a great 5 speed that shouldnt break. looks like a fun car i hope to test drive one soon. Its probibly going to be an ecotec engine. GM started putting full plastic covers over the engines, it makes them look completly different.
