I am looking at 2 but I cant decide on which one to get. The first one is a 1997 Z28 6speed 84k miles t-tops its in ok condition, some knicks here and there but not bad. Then I found a 1994 Z28 manual transmission, 103k Miles but it is clean as hell. Like I couldnt believe that it was a 94 because it was just so clean.I cant decide maybe you guys can help me out. There both about the same price.

wouldnt you wanna lean towards the newer less mileage car? :confused

I personally would lean towards the 97 simply because of the better options. Since it is an OBDII car you have more power tuning options with chips and programmers. I would go for that simple because of that, but the lower mileage helps, and 6-speeds get pretty good highway mileage, one guy i know got 30 mpg on his 98 Camaro Z28. So it's more economical, that's jsut my opinion though. But both sound nice, tough choice.

i have found another one and I think this is the one. Its a 2000 firebird 5.7L t-tops 50,155 miles, leather clean as hell. he wants $15,500 for it so with trade in on my car it would be about $11,000. The only thing is it is automatic but it is still a sweet car. The engine bay wow i was impressed. that motor was so clean and so beautiful. This 2000 is a little bit more monee, but it has everything that I want and the miles are just right.

1. exhaust is definitly coming off
2. maybe forced induction, i havent decided yet.
3.Eibach pro kit springs and a nice set of wheels. That will be a pretty good start.

if you can afford to go with the ls1.. otherwise the 97 is the better option

Do some checking around if you want an M6. There are plenty of them out there. It's a good time to get an LS1, the prices are reasonable.

what are the prices of the original LT1 cars?

i'd go '97 over the '94 because of:
a - less miles
b - better console/interior(i know it's a slight difference)
c - OBD2 is easier on passing emmissions(plug and play and tuning)
d - the better optispark

NOW, depending on pricing, you could get into an LS1. i didn't have to look hard when i was looking for my next one. last year i had about 5-6 to choose from at a price of $8500 and under. all at about 85k-115k miles

I'd say the '97 z28 with those miles should be at 6500 maybe less. then '94 should be at about 4000-4500, no matter how clean it is, the mileage number will still kill it. it's just the nature of the beast of the used f-body market

i paid <$7k for my 99 Z28 6speed leather/t-tops w/ 112k miles on it. that's after i sold the boyd rims and sold the TNT nitrous kit it came with. i paid $7200 for the car cash wise. and like i said it had mods on it that i could sell off. for $15g's, i can find you a hell of a deal on a slightly modded LS1, but the sucky thing is it's not at a dealership. so the ease of trading in isn't there. hell for $15,000 w/o trade in, i could get you a nicely kept 2000 SS with similar miles, 6speed t-tops

most DEFINATELY go with the LS1...LT1's are cramped, problem child, pieces of sh!t...the LS1 is more advanced better motor :)

Ls1 All The Way!!!!!

BAD LS1

You CAN make the engine bay quite roomy with an LS1, here is a shot of mine with just the A/C removed and the air injection components, its pretty open, the coil packs come off on one bracket (99+) making it super easy to change plugs etc... The motor is cake to work on too.

That NBM Formula that was spoken of above looks great....

Hopefully the tranny and clutch are doing well, i had rebuilt the trans and helped install the clutch for the previous owner.

lol that's what you consider a not so clean engine bay.

So would this be down right filthy?
