Well, me and my Fiance just bought $11,000 worth of replacement windows from Grandview Windows last Tuesday..... and the sales guys said that Joe Milner himself, (off the radio commercials) would be stopping out sometime soon to get the Final Measurement of the windows...
I thought that was pretty cool, since he's the head honcho over there in the sales division...and its SUNDAY!
ANYWAYS...

I asked Tasha what she thought he would pull up in, and she guessed an Escalade/Navigator.... My guess was a CTS-V....

Im on the computer cruising the forums, when my dog starts barking...

I looked outside, and the guy pulled up in a Burgundy C5 auto....
He comes in, measures the windows, and I start asking about his car...

I find out, its an '01... and has a Vortech S/C on it.... :stare :wow
Said he's getting a new Ferarri next...

Must be fvckin' nice.... :crying

I went out and looked at the car/engine...CLEAN.
But stock exhaust.... :punch:

When he left, he lit 'em up going around the corner... :headbang
Nice to know my windows will help fund his Ferarri purchase... :headbang

$560 per window is a good deal, cheaper than I would have been. What are you getting? Vinyl or wood? Casement? Slider? Double Hung? My old man did the windows on "turbogarrett"s house. (if you read this, how are they working out for you?)

There is SOOOOOO much money in replacement windows it's ridiculous!
Who gave you the quote of $15k?

What he's driving tells me you probably could have squeezed him a little more on the windows. :goof

J/K.. Cool deal that the man himself came out to assist with the sale... :thumbsup

Vinyl, Double Hung.... 6 of the vinyls have the Dark Oak laminate stuff for our living room and our dining room..
One slider for above the kitchen sink....
Grids on the top half of all the windows...
Lifetime guarantee for broken windows, and screens... Pay nothing for them to come out and replace it...
Guarantee can be transferred to ONE other owner for when we sell the house..

The Company that gave us the $15,000 quote was 'Window Specialists'...
'Weathertight' gave us a quote for their Top 'O' the line window for $13,8xx...

Grandview had the best window/price deal with the best warranty/guarantee that we came across.....

Weathertight does good work, and sells awesome windows. (my old man does work for them)
Good job searching around! Most people arent smart enuff to shop around. If you have any questions or concerns about the windows or the way theyre installing them or anything, give me a holler. I've been installing windows (not full time) for 15 years.

The window's are great. I would reccommend Weathertight to anyone looking for window replacement. Is your dad's hotrod on the road yet?

Thanks!

I do have one question.....

We agreed that the outside trim around the windows were fairly new, and didnt need replacement....
So, is it likely that when the remove the old trim, that they'll fvck it up? or can it be saved pretty easily...?
'JOE' said that if the installers DO fvck it up, theyll replace it obviously for free..

Weathertights' windows seemed amazing.. but also seemed like it was MAJOR overkill for US.... and more than we wanted to spend...

depending on the depth of the new window compared to the old window (distance from outside face to inside face of window) they MIGHT be able to save the trim. They will probably install the windows from inside the house, that way they dont have to pull off the aluminum trim. If they do that, they will pull the wooden trim off, save it, and just nail it back on once the new window is in place.
If you or the wife is there when they start, just make sure to go over with them what you want. Inside install, dont remove alum trim. Keep an eye on them and make sure they do a good job insulating around the window. A poorly insulated and installed window is about as efficiant as an open window.
Keep me posted.

They said that the window will be installed from the OUTSIDE...
So, hopefully they DO fvck up the trim... New trim would be fine with me... :thumbsup
We have a ton of Oak trim on the inside that they said they wont even touch....so, hopefully everything goes well...
Also, I never saw them measure the Depth of the windows....could that come back to haunt them? Isnt that a pretty critical measurement??

Wifey will probably take off of work for the 2 or 3 days they're installing....
..just to make sure those guys dont go wandering into the bedroom, and wear her panties or something...
Kind of like what happened in 'American Pie 2', when they were painting those two hotties' house.... :banana

Thanks for the info!! :shades

they never measure depth, they're all pretty much the same give or take an inch. Grandview will make your s**t nice, no worries.
As far as the installers creepin' thru your house, dont worry about that either. I've seen some pretty wierd stuff and after you've seen one house, theyre all the same. they wont wear your wifes panties! lol

Keep in mind all those big companies are subbing the work out to others so they have to charge enough to pay multiple companies. Smaller local places like myself (Andon Contractors) can usually offer the same warranties/quality service at a drastically lower cost because the work is kept in-house. For instance, we sell/install vinyl double hungs anywhere from $295 to $475 (on the very high end) a piece depending on size and grade......Sorry for the shameless plug but I couldnt resist. :D
