I wouldn't mind going. Why is it a 2 day event though? What is going on each day, just dynos?

all i know is that its a dyno jet. fwd or rwd. its a decent set up though. your best bet would to be tune it before coming, but i spose you could tune it there. i think its two days cause he plans/wants alot of cars to be there to make it a fun event. but also to get his name out, cause they do do other stuff besides dyno. so like i said, if you guys want it, and want to follow me out there, i can lead a convoy.

Dyno Days is tomorrow! Anyone going?? I would sure like to attend, lots of useful observation to be had at the dyno! :banana

Judging by the Dyno Days link at http://www.ncrperformance.com/, this sounds DAMN CHEAP for 2 A/F pulls on a DynoJet capable of 1000HP/1000TQ! ($50) It doesn't get any cheaper than this! :thumbsup

When are people going? This event sounds like it's about 4 times longer than it needs to be, I'd hate to go and stand around waiting for cars, I hope to catch the main action..

Nick - will they operate until 9 PM even if nobody is there? (i.e. if the last guy runs at 7 PM and everyone leaves - can someone still show up at 8 PM and run?)

Well I went.... didnt put down much, but I am a bit suspicious. At 255rwhp, it would be the absolute weakest LS1 of all time. The pulls were done SO quick I dont really know what happened. 1st pull the car downshifted during the dyno run and the run was stopped. 2nd pull the car stayed in gear and got the 255.... but the car may have been in 3rd. They tried a 3rd pull in another gear to the result of 188hp. Seemed like confusion to me.

Oh well, nice to meet you TurboProbe. The NCR guys were very cool too, but I just wasn't a fan of how the dyno was done.

yeah, i agree, it was really hot in there. i think the way they did it was ok, some automatics are wierd, but i dunno. the way i see it, is that it's a starting point man, u gotta start somewhere. and also, when i was there the other day, i ran 270 whp, and then i turned up the boost and came back sat, and ran the same whp after tuning a little. so yeah, temp has alot to do with it. and i bet if you get exhaust you will be closer to that 300 whp mark. oh, and ill get the vid up soon, and whatever pics i have. nice to meet u too. now everyone else has to go there and check it out. :)

stock gto's are supposed to be 350 at the crank... there's no way he should lose more than 70hp (20%) through the drivetrain. Brandon also has a CAI.

My Father-Inlaws '04 GTO doesn't feel anything close to 350hp, the Firehawk is much much faster. His car with 1200 miles on it last year only ran 14.40 @ 96 MPH on a hot day at the Grove. I've heard the programing pulls all the timing out when the intake air temp is over 70..... :confused

I believe the 180hp.......

I went on Saturday, it was a little slow but the 3 guys who run the place were all very friendly & cool. :thumbsup I felt like an outsider, having never been there and not knowing anybody else there but they still offered us food & drink and we watched a few cars dyno.

They have a DynoJet model 224 and they can either drive the car or allow the owner to do it if he wants. The two cars I saw dyno, their results seemed correct (high enough) to me but I didn't know much about the motors. I was a little confused how they did the pulls in the gears, I thought you had to slowly get into your 1:1 gear and then stab the gas. I asked about dynoing an automatic and they said it would read correctly in 2nd gear so I was a bit confused.

Anyway this place came across like what it would be like, if 2 of my buddies and I rented a shop and bought a dyno; :headbang I thought that was a very cool idea, their prices are the lowest and the environment was very low-pressure. Most of the dyno events I went to seem pretty high strung, like if your car doesn't immediately give you the #s you want, it can be really frustrating trying to produce quick results on a finicky vehicle. Seems like a good place to dyno as long as they figure out the LS1 GTO thing.

I saw the computer, it was calculating SAE Correction like you would expect at a dyno, I beleive this takes the heat/humidity into factor and applies calculations on the raw results to arrive at dyno numbers that the S.A.E. has designed to be comparable to other SAE dyno results. I might go back today, hopefully more results can be posted to figure out if they are off in general or just 1 bad run.

The stock programming has been replaced with a mild tweak using HP Tuners and street tested on a 90 degree day with no knock or and correct timing.

My LT1 Z28 put down 280rwhp with just headers and the GTO feels a good bit quicker.

Seriously dont take those #s to heart.... how the hell did my 3400 lbs car run mid 11s at 120 with 390 rwhp??? :rolf I was bummed too... DYNO RACING IS GHAY

That GTO prolly only has like 22-23 degrees max timing anyway... I run a hair under 30 with no knock :D and mine had 21 degrees on stock timing.

Talk to Jeff, SLOW C5 about getting your Get-Too added to his HP tuners and ill give a good once over like i did with Kyle's A B4C Z's car, that thing turned into an animal with stock internals after a good tune up and felt night and day.

There is not a faster LS1 than Jeff's currently running. Brad's car WAS faster last year, but only that 14sec slip this year. There IS a faster LS1 in this area, but he doesn't post on here. It's got all of us by a second or more.

Mine is running right now. It's been to the track 2 times this year and on the dyno twice. It's not a 10 second car or anything....yet. but it is faster than a large percentage of these funny guys who keep bagin on lt1s. I respect any type of car that was owner built and is fast. It takes alot of work to get a car running to it's potential. I know that from spending the last 3 years actually running my car. I figure out things every time I go to the track or dyno. I guess I don't understand all the haters. I've stated what my car has run so far in less than optimal conditions. I didn't sugar coat it or make it faster than it has been. I plan on running one more time with the current combo because I think I found my missing mph. Then the car goes under the knife to hopefully get a bit faster.
If you are one of the guys bagin on lt1, maybe you have earned the right through blood and sweat of your own. If that's the case then fine, but lets see your time slips.
end of rant.

If that's the case then fine, but lets see your time slips.
end of rant.

really.
I know your's is. I know Chris ran in the 11s with his old motors. I know Tom did quite a few times, Who else has an 11 second ls1? I realize it's not as hard to go fast with an ls1. I'm not taking anything away from anyones achievement. I'm just sick of band wagon.

i think it's more of a PERSONAL thing rather than the actual LT1.... well atleast for me it is. the only LT1 car we keep bagging on is Diva's. if he owned a ford/buick/civic/etc... i'd be picking on that. but because of the similarity of it being a 4th gen f-body, it makes the arguments that much more intense. but it is still on a personal level of making fun. Diva can shoot back at me that i FINALLY have a running vehicle, but it's still without seats and hasn't been to the track yet. it's no biggie for me because i know things take time, just like his car did as well. Can't make fun of Tom anymore because he just went through the same thing i did with the blown motor.

I appreciate the post. Next question is how deep in the 11s are the known 11 second cars? I hope to be clawin my way up the food chain in the future. If I could actually drive I'd probably be a good bit closer :D My best et to date came with a 2.0 60"

I run 12.2-12.3@116mph not tuned with my A4. I should be purchasing a converter soon and that should land me in the 11's I hope.

Yeah from that 11.50 mark is where it would step into the 12s.

I ran a buddy of mine a few nights ago, he has a 1998 z28 M6 with new 410's, a new moser, LID, cat back, and headers. All i have is exhaust and CAI. Stock manifolds, stock rear end and he beat me but only by a car length at the most. We both got good starts off the line. It was a very even race with no excuses. i know i lost, but it was a lot closer than i thought it was going to be.
