DVD Camcorders good or bad???

Well I really wanna get a camcorder that I can take vids with and load em onto my puter. Now I see these dvd camcorders which look awsome, but I think they're pretty new still?

Does anyone have one or know someone who does?

i would think good --so many parts in a hi 8 --always need cleaning --always go out of adjustments --i dont own one but i own a hi 8--hell the best one i have ever had is my beta :headbang --my beta still to this day takes super clean video
