Still have any parts or the car? I am looking for the metal upper shroud that is found on 307 g-bodies, fits on top of the radiator and holds the plastic shroud...let me know, thanks!

Nope. Some got 3:42's and a few squeaked out with 3:08's.

Okay........ cuz you have personally seen every single rear-end ever put in to a Monte Carlo SS. You must have been quality control for GM rear-ends those years huh!

Not trying to be a **** about it, but I don't think you inspected every one either ;).

I've been around for a little while now and heard so many stories/false claims of a *factory* 350, etc...never any proof/documentation to support it. Either the people go away or they realize it was false information. If one existed surely there would be some proof by now, with any of those types of claims.

For GM to have a different drivetrain combination it has to be okayed by the Federal Gov't and that costs big $$$....so it wasn't like the old days when you could put together anything from the factory, even in the 80's there was the EPA and other regulations to prevent that :D.

If you saw one or know someone who has a 3:08 rear in there SS it was swapped in at some point..just check the RPO codes if they are still there.

It was an 84 SS. It was an odd ball. It had 3:08's, bench seat, and a column shift. I have been around too. My first Rod's were all G-bodies. 79,78 cutlasses one of which was a W19. 80,81,82 Regals. 79,80,84 Monte Carlos.
and one ugly ass 78 Grand Prix. 10-12 years ago when I first started wrenching/driving cars, all I could afford were G-bodies. The only G-body I want but never had would be a 78-79 Malibu. I have everything to convert a G-body to a manual trans..... **** between my Dad and I, we have everything to build another G-body.
