After almost 8 years of on and off working on it i finally was able to drive my chevelle down the street today. DOnt think ive ever posted here about this so heres a brief rundown

-1967 Chevelle SS 396
-Black/Black
-M21, for now, have a brand new m22 at the shop.
-Brand new 454 engine started out as a complete never fired ls7 crate engine that we kinda went over. We changed out the iron ls6 heads for a set of big valved GMPP Rect ports. We also threw that solid mechanical cam in the garbage and went with a full hydrolic roller setup. Cam is a 255*/255* .612/.612 108lsa. engine is currently sitting at 12.5:1 so its sucking on straight turbo blue as it sits.
- car also has a full global west tubular susp setup with custom valved bilsteins
-15x6 front with 15x8 rear ralleys for now (prob gonna get some sort of big wheel setup when we upgrade the brakes)

Car makes some serious power and drives very smooth. Only complaint i have is that it def needs a tilt steering column as the steering wheel rubs on my thighs and makes it hard to steer. Only other complaint would be that the engine only has 8" of vacuum at idle so the brakes dont wwork the greatest and it can be kind of snotty .

Hopefully we will be putting a 9.5:1 540 short block in it with the same cam and heads to make it a big more streetable all the while make the same if not more hp soon.

Snapped a few pics today of it in my driveway, but the really dont do the car justice. Sorry they are so small as i didnt realize the camera's resolution was set so low. You can find those HERE!! (http://people.msoe.edu/~pankiww/The%20Chevelle/)

Now onto the next project, my dads 70 NOM LS6 chevelle.

sorry for the novel, im just very excited as this day has been a long time coming

gorgeous car... :thumbsup

Get a vacumn booster to help out with the brakes...what kind of timing are you running right now?

8 inches of vacumn is actually good for that large a cam

thanks guys

valiant AFAIK the timing is set @ 36 degrees but that may have changed as i know my dad was messing with it. Right now tho i think the next step is to get rid of the stock distw/ the pertronix kit and swap in one of those new MSD E-curves dist that have all the electronics under the cap which is a main criteria as we are trying to make it look as stock as possible :) ill def have to look into that brake booster thingy tho.

ill def have to look into that brake booster thingy tho. Should have asked...oh what the heck, here you go:

vacuum resivior (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?Ntt=SUM%2DG1464&N=0&part=SUM%2DG1464&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch)
In satin... (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?Ntt=SUM%2DG1460&N=0&part=SUM%2DG1460&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch)
...and polished aluminum too! (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?Ntt=SUM%2DG1461&N=0&part=SUM%2DG1461&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch)

looks a little less stock, but'll help a ton. Sharp eyes like mine will know what you've got from that part alone :goof

Why did you get rid of the mechanical cam?

We need pics!
