Being the son of a former Marine who served in Panama and the first Gulf War, thought I'd toss this up.

Not too sure where he was located in GW1. I just remember being in 4th or 5th grade when my teacher took me out of class to say good bye to my dad before he was being sent, and that was a few months (I think) before everything started (operation desert shield). I can ask and find out tonight, I do know that he retired as a Sgt. after the first Gulf. The pics he has from then it looks like he was carrying a heavy machine gun though...I never really talked to him about that, I just know from looking at pics.

I had been in a military program from 7th grade to the end of high school, Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Basically it was a training and learning program for kids who where wondering about he military or get a head start in training. I had wanted to join the Marines out of high schoo, the Marine recruiter used to attend my football games during my Jr. and Sr. year, along with month meetings to see how I was doing physically and mentally and how prepaired I was, which he was surprised I was more motivated than any other student of the Sussex Hamilton to join the Corps. Then I found out I was flat footed and disqualified from serving.
