No doubt - he certainly did! I had the stock turbo at the time. Put up a decent fight though for a gear and a half! The F40's evidently run in the high 11s at mid 120s if you really abuse the clutch, according to John Carmack (http://www.idsoftware.com) who told me when I asked :stare I think Jim is one of the coolest guys on HWY - but I don't think he's unbeatable; especially being traction limited.

Where in the hell did you meet him that you were in close proximity to racing at the same time? Just curious :)

I raced Mr. Fuchs' F40 but John Carmack has one as well, years back when Quake 1 was big and I was into 3D games I followed that stuff closely, one day the whole id Software crew went to the dragstrip and raced all their exotic cars and took photos. I thought the times were super fast because all I knew was "Ferraris and Porsches are the fastest cars!" at the time.. But in reality there were a lot of 13 and 14 second Ferraris and Porsches. John's F40 was the fastest running high 11s. I believe it was stock then but he probably modified it since; when I talked to him about it he mentioned his Testarossa was highly modified and put out 700-1000RWHP depending on the boost :stare He also said "The GTO engine (custom billet alluminum V12) should be good for 1400 hp, but I probably won't leave it set that high -- the car only weighs 2400 lbs (full carbon fibre body)."

I didn't speak with him personally, I simply emailed him and much to my surprise he replied :D Update: I just searched my inbox, 14 emails between 1996 and 2002. When I asked him about Jim's F40 he said "You could probably take him off the line, you need to really abuse the clutch to launch it hard. When I ran my F40 at a drag strip I got an 11.9 at 123 mph with a 1.9 60' time. It is probably possible to get the 60' time down quite a bit (and the ET will go down right along with it), but it could be expensive experimentation."
