I'm going down with with a few friends on the 27th. Nothing fast... just some fun.

Decided to wait a few weeks for it to clear out. Opening weekend/week is free, but waiting in line is only so much fun.

How long would you expect to wait in the staging lanes this Sunday? My guess is 1-3 hours per run. Probably about 1 hour 30 minute average if past year opening weeks are an indicator.

EDIT: Just read the calendar. I see that the Harleys are moved to Bikes-Only Thursdays!!! - CAN I GET AN "AMEN"?!???? :rockwoot:

That long of a wait is not worth it at all, even if the price is only 12 bucks. Even if you went in the morning, would it still be packed?

There is no question that opening day is one of the busiest of the year. It would be absurd to expect to get a lot of runs in. I imagine the reason people go is because they are anxious to drag race as soon as possible and just because it's fun to be "first". If you are serious about getting a lot of runs in I would try next Tuesday or even better, the Tuesday after that (the first Tuesday you have to pay full price).

If you are dead set on going opening day, yes I would say being there before they open (to get in line at the gate) would be your best chance for the most runs.. I dont know about opening day but I've gotten there early some days and made 75% of my runs all within the first 45 minutes.. round and round while everyone else techs in and unloads their trailers. :D

Opening day was great! Got plenty of runs in in little time. i think 6? 7? i dunno. I got there about 10:30 and stayed untill 5. I even watched for over an hour. Staging lanes went pretty fast! No bracket racing or event = faster! :headbang

opening day was suprisingly not packed. everyone got alot of runs out there. good times.

I can't complain, I got 7 runs in and I stopped at about 3:00. Traction sucked but that was to be expected, my 60' time were up about .15 from last fall. I got a new best of 12.82 @ 104.56mph so it was a good day. If anyone has video of openning day or knows of some that does please PM me. If possible I would like to get a copy since all of mine turned out pretty bad.

Bryan's right! I got there at like 2:30pm or so, and got 3 runs in, and could have gotten a 4th but decided to call it quits on a call of disappointment. Traction for me sucked arse, I got to do a few Traction upgrades to match my hp (and learn to drag right:D) ... thought I'd give it a shot though. 14.5@98 best (14.2@100 best last fall w/out headers(Y-pipe),clutch,race wires/plugs,same tires) Damn Vert!!!!!!!!! Looks good though cruisin. :thumbsup

Z2830th97, were you at the sears auto center in brookfield square last week? that car looks familiar, it was parked outside and was supposed to get an optima. it was around 4 and i was thinking about doing it (i work there) but i was only scheduled untill 4.
