Anyony wana dive in to what this means ?

As much as I know it will improve on Reving but what else ?

This is mainly directed twords a built 4 cyl. but im sure it can be used in any aplication.

Also is it worth it ?

Knife edging means to cut the crank counterbalances and throws to essentially be "sharp"...IE, it's pointed instead of blunt.

The MAIN reason to do it is to reduce windage losses...IE, the crank cut through falling/returning oil, vs batting it around and lossing HP.

Another reason is that it reduces the mass of the crank from the cutting...less HP it takes to spin the crank, means more HP to your wheels

Generally done in conjunction with cutting down the counterbalances (making the counterwt's smaller in diameter) to reduce the crank's weight and therefore rotational inertia by virtue of reduced size and wt...

It's only appropriate for some cranks...if you have a cast crank and you begin cutting it...good luck balancing it without adding mallory metal...which will MORE than offset the wt savings, leaving you at square 1.

It's only worth it in the upper eacholon of racing...whether it be a competive stock class, or all out racing, just to get that little bit more, or just to stay competitive...and only worth it if you reduce all other parasitic losses in your drivetrain as much as possible, on top of having a blueprinted engine to the nth degree, etc....to do all that crank work, then just do a subpar build and put it in a subpar chassis is just throwing money away...

nowdays they have coatings for cranks that will allow you to shed oil and reduce HP losses as well...it's the poor man's way to knife edge a crank
