Tranny shops...

A guy I work with has a 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4 that's havin some tranny issues. It doesn't slip yet, but when the fluid is cold, it will hold a gear until he lets off the gas or shifts manually. His local mechanic quoted him about $2k for a rebuild. I thought that seemed kind of high. Anyone know of any good shops or had a similar problem?

I dont have the number but they did my bro's rear end and stuff, there kings at trannys, hipster is the dude name or somthing like that.
