BMW has some pretty neat systems in those trannies on some of the newer cars. In my old mans 740, if you push a switch a certain way, it will only downshift while braking or when you push the gas all the way down. The whole system is very predictable, but the 1-2 shift is ssssssssslllllllllooooooowwwwwwwww!

I do prefer stick, but that system can be fun sometimes...it keeps both hands on the wheels.
