I have a freind with a 91 mustang LX 5.0 that likes to autocross/daily drive his car. I am just looking for your recomendations on which tire might suit his needs. Any help will be appreciated. If you need more info just ask. :thumbsup

Hey I have a 1991 lx hatchback :) . I always loved the kumho ecsta supras, they are cheap but I thought they were the best tire I've ran for the best price. I used to run them on the grey hatchback and they made a world of difference, went along with my suspension setup nicely.

i hated my kuhmo 712's on my 95, but my suspension was messed up so it wouldn't hook no matter what.

I dunno, the 555R is a drag tire not really a autocross tire. It's a great tire, but it does have a weak sidewall. The 555R-II is the sticky autocross radial that's alot like the 555R drag radial but it has the thicker sidewall you want for cornering (dunno why you'd want to corner though ;)) At least that's what I got from what I read. Honestly though, the 555R really only lasts about 10k if you're not spinning em a ton. I wouldn't want to run then for a daily driver car that I also hit the turns hard in. They won't hold up for very long before they're junk in the rain. He might be better off either A.) Looking into a real street tire or B.) Getting another set of rims/tires for the drag type days.

I meant 555R-2. I only know about going straight.

Oh trust me I'm the same way. As long as I can turn at the end of the track that's all the cornering I need.
