I had this guy e-mail me last week, wondering if I knew anyone looking to buy a '79 Hurst/Olds. This is the link he gave me. http://www.carsearch.com/ad.html?v=770078. I've never seen a '79 H/O like this before. Anybody seen or heard of one these?

Welcome aboard....another g-body owner :D.

Might of met you before, not sure...met a couple guys with H/O's in the last few years. It seems I've seen an odd amount of 84' Hurst Olds in the area in the last few years...at least a good handful are different ones, not all the same car ;). Nice ride.

I've seen some pics online of factory manual g-bodies, usually the 78-80 Cutlass' and a few others here and there. Pretty rare to have any around anymore. There was a El Camino SS(with the Choo Choo MCSS style nose) at Solid Gold a few years back with a stock manual tranny setup, not sure if it was stock or what the story was. I think the owner was the guy who owned the body shop my SS was re-done at. There was also a 78-80 Grand Prix on Ebay with a factory manual in Florida a guy wanted 5k for, car was complete and solid but sitting in a salvage yard or something  :confused .

Car is for sure not an H/O, but the Cutlass was available with a 4 speed and the 305...also with a 5 speed and a 260. I had a 78 with that setup a few years ago. For sure a rare setup, but 3,000 still seems a bit steep.

Hey pb86mcss, if you see an '84 H/O on the road with dull paint, that's me. Not this time of year though, she's all wrapped up for the season. I think mine has the worst paint (California car) out of the very few that we have around town. I'm usually at the Culver's and Solid Gold car shows with it.

After a 3 year hiatus, the H/O returned in '79 on GM's newly downsized Cutlass body. The first H/O to be built entirely by Oldsmobile Division, it was also the first H/O that did not offer a 455 engine. But it was the only GM A-body to offer a 350 V8 in '79. White and black again were the color choices, but with a wider choice of interior trims than ever before. Gold paint covered the hood, most of the top, and the very rear of the trunk. The aluminum wheels were also painted gold, along with the grille. At $2054 for the conversion, it was the most expensive H/O ever, but even so, sales held steady at 2499 units.

Thats one nice looking Oldsmobile. Someday I would like to have an 85 442 in white with the grey interior.
