My dad bought this cr brand new as a dealer trade from a pittsburgh area dealer through Yenko chevrolet. This car is 1 or 4 un-converted COPO yenko Camaro's. Two are only left in exsitence, we own the other as well, a rally green/white stripe car.

This car has only 4500 original miles on it and just completed restoration. Its the original color called Corvette Bronze which is very similar todays sunset orange metallic.

This and the other car are fully documented and authorized by ed cunneen who is the person who hold all verifaction documents on yenko serial #s.

The car is a 396-375 4 speed car, what makes these COPO cars special is there rather odd option combinations, and late 68' model year production dates that makes them stand out from your average 68 SS 396.

Here are some pics...

Enjoy:

They are original styled red lines but no they arent the ones that came one the car. IT is an all matching # drive train though and the orginal engine as well.

The old man basically used this car for drag racing purposes only hence the low mileage, in 69' it went 11.4@ 126 with a holley 3 barrel 850 cfm carb, L88 heads, headers, M&H slicks and 5.13 gears. These 396 375 were solid lifter motors and had tough internals and would take 7K RPM beatings all day long.

He sold the car to a freind in 71' who painted it black and ended got driven some through the 70's and 80's and then sat in his shop for 20 yrs and then we got a hold of it again. But it was in pretty rough shape, had a 454 swapped into it, needed 1/4's and a fair amount of body work, it was beat since day one LOL.

Yeah 3 out of the four were this corvette bronze and the only diff one was th rally green one and thats the other one we got.

Its in need of resto too, its a pretty damn rough bondo bucket right now and is bright red.

The car in the pics is gonna be at the chicago vettefest in the end of nov at the mcormick place if anyone wants to see it in person, they also have a ton of other cool cars there too.

i have to ask, how much did you pay for it?

i own 3 Dodge Challengers, and they are all fairly rare,

1, a 1970 440 6 pack, R/T 4 speed.

so what kinda cash did you lay down for that,

Im actually not that, familiar with camaro's, although i own 2 1968's.

im guessing since its so rare, and needed work over 30 k?

also, are those the correct rims?

it has an SS on the gas cap, yet no SS rims?

hmm is that one of the interesting options?

The stories about the cars history are sometimes as cool as the cars themself..... Whats the plan now, just show it, turn it or is he going to play with it some..... :burnout

I'm taking Mandys GS to Byron Sunday........How about a little Stock Appearing Shoot-Out, GS vs Camaro, both on Bias Plys....... :-P Your Dads not afraid of a girls Buick is he....... :goof

Rims are right. Its like ordering a 1LE car now a days. You dont get anything special. All you get is the motor and choice of color.

NOT BAD CAR EITHER!!! I guess i would take one:idhitit

Yeah like i said these cars are set apart by wierd options.

They came with the MV code 396-375 motor, M21 close ratio trans, 4.10 gears, 140 speedo, uplevel SS interior with 3 spoke wheel and am/fm radio, SS spoiler, the specific disc brake car steel wheels, the red line tires, and the export cowl tag that reads has two dashes for the paint code, and reads "magic mirror brand acrylic lacquer" at the bottom of the cowl tag and the yenko serial # in the door jamb that was added to all conversion cars to identify them on the lot.

The prices... well we just sold a hugger orange 69 yenko camaro previously. So the money from that bought this car for 30K in the rough shape it was in, 56K for the restoration, and nows its worth somewhere in the neighborhood of 200K.

The other one ill try and get some pics of, that car in pre restoration state could sell anywhere from 75-100K. That one we bought from a guy in PA who didnt know what he actually had but its also a low mileage car at about 10,500 miles.

The old man gets a diff type of enjoyment from these cars, it only gets driven on and off a trailer and into parking postions LOL, There is always that fear of changing the color of the paint on the engine if it runs too long hahahah. But he likes to just show them.

Some dont agree with just being trailer queens and show queens and they should be driven, but some of these cars are worth way too much to ever venture out on the street and get dusty and stuff, ruining that fresh pop of a recent restoration.

all I gotta say is your dad must have a lot of self control cuz it would drive me nuts to see the car sitting there begging to take one more trip down the strip....one thing that is very cool about this car is your dad was the first to enjoy it like it was meant to be driven and he enjoys it today in much the same fashion. He's a lucky man :rockwoot:

Because in 68' if it would have gotten the conversion it would have got the 427 engine, otherwise they came with 396's. Only in 69' they firststarted coming right from the factory with 427s.

The 396 is a runnin' motor though in its own right!
