locksmith help

I recently got my hands on a vintage stang series.. the car seems fine.. but the rear lock does not open without a lot of effort. Do I need a locksmith?

oil it. Disconnect it from the linkage and or latch mechanism to see if the problem is in the lock cylinder or the latch/linkage. Oil everything.
