Been a while, but happy to have brought home a new car from Detroit over the weekend. Car basically looks brand new.

GT.
Just flashed in the tune. Tomorrow I'll test it out and see what tweaks are needed.

Tune is a little harsh light throttle shifting into 2nd and 3rd.. otherwise very happy. Barking the tires into 2nd at WOT was fun.

Nope.

Are you the sport red? I think I've only seen one BCM G8, and that was a good 3-4 years ago.

Mine is Liquid Red and I've had mine for just over a year.

Camaro SS wheels? The wheels look good on the car.

Yeah, they came on it. Between my expectation of tire cost and harsh ride I never would have gone with 20s, but I've been pleasantly surprised with how well it rides, and after looking into tires, they're cheaper than 19s.

I have the stock 18s for snows if that's the direction I end up going.. so we'll see how that plays out.

NICE!! I saw a silver one last summer with exhaust in New Berlin sounded really good! Whats on the agenda for upgrades?

Nothing serious for now, just intake and exhaust. I'll probably cam it with my annual bonus in a year or 2. The DOD parts need to come out sooner or later anyway.

Which tune did you go with? I just did a Pat G tune on mine this weekend, and it's a world of difference already!

A buddy of mine who has a twin turbo 403 G8 helped me with it. The stock trans tune definitely leaves plenty to be desired.

I've been searching for a nice low mileage G8 for awhile, but I'm looking for something impossibly specific and rare. An '09 GXP, white, auto, charcoal interior, Nav, and a moonroof. I'd probably go for a black one, too. How can you turn down something with a name like 'Panther Black Metallic', lol.
Nice ride!

I don't believe a NAV is available in them at all, but theres a ridiculously expensive interior piece you can buy to integrate a garmin. When I was shopping I was tripping over black cars.

A buddy of mine is selling a white no sunroof GXP for pretty cheap. 130K on it for $20500. I can't imagine why you'd buy a GXP in auto... just get a GT unless you get a manual. For the price premium you'll end up with a way faster car spending the same money on go-fast parts.

Because I want the GXP trim level, and my wife will be driving it every now and then who hates/sucks at driving manual. I also hate being stuck in rush hour every day with a manual...so I'm opting for the auto. I think I saw that white G8 for sale online, but want something with a lot less miles. I know I'll be paying ~$30k for what I want....but life is short ;)

I'd never buy a GXP auto. For the same money spent on go-fast parts on a GT you'd be way ahead. LSA supercharger, cam package, full exhaust and a suspension upgrades, and all for less than a GXP out of the box...

Sure. But it's still not a GXP and still not an LS3.

The mods you listed would put you close to GXP $ and you left out the better wheels, brembo's, front facia and rear diffuser, and possibly rear gearing.

Yes, close to GXP $ and making probably between 150 and 200 more horsepower. The LS3 is only .2L bigger, and all the things you listed are preference based, and frankly not worth a dollar to me, with the exception of rear gears, which are $500 (give or take), and on a roots type blower, I don't know that I'd want to change them anyway.
Premium for the sake of premium I could take or leave. 19" tires are significantly more expensive than 18" or 20", front facia I don't really consider one better than the other (personal opinion of course..), Rear diffuser is $138 if you care to swap it out (I'll probably do the $50 insert to cover the honeycomb instead, just because I prefer a car that's easy to clean), brembos are pretty, but on a street car are really only a cosmetic upgrade over quality pads and rotors.

TLDR version: Different strokes for different folks, but for the same money, I'd choose the 150+ ponies. Every time.

Nice ride. I always see a nice royal blue one when I drive down Russell Rd, very very nice looking cars. Sound good too when modified. I'd take one of these over the Chevy SS.

Intake went on last night. Exhaust is still boringly quiet, but at least now shes got a bark at WOT.

And because there are WAY too many of these cars with Camaro 20s... I busted out the plastidip can.

When they start depreciating enough I'll probably replace it with an SS... primarily to get back into a manual transmission.

Nice job, looks good!
Thanks!

Exactly... it all comes down to personal preference, and my preference would be the GXP trim level for the extra money. If I was concerned about budget, I'd buy a $200 beater and swap a boneyard LSX in it and spray it to the moon. Can't go wrong with a GT or GXP. I fell in love with the aggressive look of them the first time I set eyes on it...
Be sure to post pictures of your progress on the car. It'll give me something to look at on this forum during my 2-3 visits per year, lol.

Still not sure how I feel about the roof, but the hood scoops are staying black. That's a carry-over mod for me from my GTO. lol

You said carry over, or you just meant the idea was carried over.

Wagonbacker9

Yeah, same concept, completely different part. Very likely will end up doing essentially all of the same mods to this I did to the GTO. Plus or minus a couple.
