Are there any transmission shops around that will do a bench rebuild? The few shops I have talk to will only rebuild the trans if they do the removal and installation also.

Not sure on the details of your car, but when I had my T-56 rebuilt it was cheaper to drop it, put it in a rubber maid and ship it to have it rebuilt and upgraded. They sent it back on a pallet.

Kilpatrick's might. If they don't, Kenny or his son from US speed would certainly do so...I don't think they do anything but. Hipster's might.

Kilpatrick will not, Kenny will but he charges as much as I can get the whole job done for.

You could just do a trans exchange at ETE. They fully test their transmissions before they send them out.

I'm gonna let him do it. Close to home and the price he gave me is the best I found. Thanks

I had a trans put in the conversion van by ETE a couple of years ago, great service, great warranty. Trans works excellent. This one was a 4l60e in a 2005 Express 1500 AWD Explorer conversion.

I really liked the fact they have complete custom testing equipment to make sure each and every piece works properly before assembling and then test the entire assembled trans itself as a unit. Pretty much removed any kind of doubt of possible failure, which is even more important if you are swapping the trans yourself.

Price-wise it wasn't bad at all, especially considering that van is torsion bar front suspension and AWD. They even verified the seal between the trans and AWD unit was intact and the AWD unit was filled properly (the biggest cause of failures of AWD units on these vans is low fluid fill, especially considering the factory info on the fill is wrong and low and most techs just follow the "incorrect" info).
