What's the dirt on this thing? I know the TDIs were underrated in terms of MPG. Curious if the same applies to these. Just noticed it only comes with an automatic, what a fucking fail by GM.

My buddy pre-ordered one, I'm curious as well!

Takes balls good luck to him. Hopefully they're not a FAIL like VW when they had their early automatic TDI's. No clue why GM wouldn't offer a 5speed version.

Probably didn't want to undertake the cost of certifying it for use in the US if it turns out the diesel take rate isn't all that great.

For VW a TDI makes sense, since the regular engine is rather inefficient and the only thing that rivals the diesel is the rather expensive hybrid. For cruze's, for less money up front you can get the 1.4 turbo that is pretty close in terms of mileage, and when factoring in the cost of gas vs diesel, is actually cheaper to operate on a per mile basis. I'd still probably go for the diesel as it's efficiency would probably suit my driving style, but I'll be surprised if they sell more than 10,000/year...

It would've been a 6-speed, almost all our vehicles are already 6-speed auto or manual...or a 7-speed if you got the coin for a Vette.

100% correct in regards to buying a new diesel car. Only way I could see it making sense and actually saving money is if you were going to keep it long haul as in 200K+. But then again you'd be comparing it to a similar gas version saver which most get at least 35mpg so that may not even be true. I know that's one of the big reasons I'd never buy a new TDI.

True sir.
