2005 SSR interesting fact

We have two plants here at Delphi in Oak Creek. One side makes Catalytic Converters, the other side makes key fobs and PCM's. The 05 SSR has the 6.0L V8 at 390 HP. Well I guess the first few production SSR's were making way more than the 390 so GM made us reprogram the PCM to make LESS HP. I tell ya, GM doesnt want anything faster than the Vette. I am sure when the Z06 comes out, they won't care.

Good to know. So just need to re-reprogram the PCM. Why should gm care? The SSR costs more than a C6 anyway. By the way Marv.....where are the pics of your new car??

We have a car show in the lot here at work today. All makes are here and you can sit in the cars. It's open to the public.
GM has always cared about other GM cars beating the Vette. Remember the special edition Fiero. GM put a quick halt to that after only 3. GM wants the Vette to be the flagship car. They allowed this to happen only in 87 with the GNX. I have pics at www.marvb3.com/Cobra

Basically the rear drive platform in that time period died out. Buick did not continue it because the FWD chassis couldn't handle the power.

exactly, and what happened to the GNX, and the Grand National in general? death. nobody beats the vette in house....

The GNX was made because they knew it was the last year...GM planned to axe the g-body back in 84' or so, hence why most didn't receive any upgrades besides the TR motor since Buick didn't care apparently. Why the MCSS didn't get any improvement over the H.O. 305 since 83'...plus the GM pecking order :rolleyes: .

The thing is a tank... Its still not gonna be anywhere near as fast even with the new LS2 making 390 in this application. At least it should be in the 13s now :alcoholic

Because the SSR weighs 2 thousand pounds more, how would it be considered faster?

How much more power are we talking about here?
