View Full Version : 2014 BCM Car Show

Its early enough in the year to get this together.

(When I say WE, I mean the whole BCM community)

1-We will need a Venue.

2-We will need Volunteers to do some orginizing.

3-We will need a Date.

4-We will need people to understand that the date will not work for everyone.

5- We will need to decide if we want to do Food, Raffle, Charity Involvement, ETC.

It s been a while since we had a big meet. Lets keep it all DRAMA FREE, make some decisions, and have a Good Time.

Aaaand GO!

I'm down for sure. FWIW I liked the slightly more formal events (like the one at project 2 or the one at clocks off that had food and charity fundraising). If you need help organizing just LMK.

Same here, I work 6.5 days a week so Sundays are best, compare Sundays to major car show events and we have a date plan.

Would consider attending though... just to watch the hilarity unfold.

Bracket racing would be a better idea, being that it would give ever one a shot at the GOLD. For me Sunday would be the only day because we race on Saturdays.

The point of all of our shows in the past was to not only get together but to raise money for a charitable cause.

Great Lakes was really quick to demand a "cut" of the money we raised throughout the day at the last event.

Just sayin'

Moparjim
01-16-2014, 04:20 PM
No clue...remember back in the day people used to unsanctioned race at one out NW somewhere? I bet since Homeland Security its become much more difficult/expensive to do so not to mention liability concerns but a smaller field somewhere who knows...

Moparjim
01-16-2014, 04:21 PM
Wait... If Irish is coming don't we need to rent a boxing ring or octagon or something for scores to be settled in? ;)

Moparjim

It could be some sort of fundraiser like a dunk tank but you put people in the octagon with Irish lol. I would pay a few bucks to send a few people in!

Just separate grudge/bracket racing from the show....car show during the day, run to gld at night. Not that I'd want to spend all day with but a couple you guys.

I have no interest Jim. Win or lose, it's pain. I just want to have some fun. And like Dave said, ALL are welcome. If people have an issue, settle it at the track. Let the cars take a beating lol.

I think GLD is a good idea, plenty of space. And people can run if they like.

If the overall idea includes Donating to a Charity, I would like to know if GLD would want a cut again.

One thing Im not sure about would be the Food....If we do an "Orginized" show at GLD.....Would we have to purchase the food they sell?

Otherwise if its more of a "Everyone meet at GLD on ________" Then we people could bring food they want to eat, and a couple of people could run the grills.

Just some thoughts.

my only complaint with the GLD idea, is most people will park their cars and go watch the racing, or will go race. and you won't meet or talk to anyone cause you won't know who they are or what they drive. Where as if you did this at a park or restaurant it would be a little more of a BCM show and less of a day at the track, i think there should be 2 separate
events, just my .02

Most people are just going to hang in their normal groups anyway, possibly intermingling here and there, whether it's a track day or not.

No different from any other show/outing lol

Not hard to put BCM on the back window next to the dial in at the track. Would love to do some bracket racing with some of the fast??????? cars on the site. Have the people park on the far corner in a group, couldn't be to hard to do.

I have admit I can see this happening... only thing i can say is inbetween runs make sure to park the cars back at the "BCM section"! Furthermore as Irish said ppl will migrate in clicks most of the time anyhow... Ive been to more shows than i care to think about, honestly unless you have a cooler full of Corona its gets boring after 2-3 hours... unless its a 400+ car show. One thing about GLD there is enough space, real bathrooms, music, other scenery besides our mugs, but it is far for some like myself. And it might get costly if they make us pay to run and then want a cut of charity donations. If they do then all BCM members run for free plus one admission for free?

We can talk about it all day... I say make a poll thread pertaining to location.

Old Guy
01-22-2014, 03:32 PM
For me its 2 hours to the Grove from my house. I have been racing their off and on since 1963, so I know how long it take to get their. I hope it would be a Sunday event because we race almost every Saturday up at WIR. This year we do have some Saturdays off during the season so it might work on a Saturday.

Some people should be ribbed with a baseball bat... continuously, until there is no reason to do so more.

You guys should have it at Leduc's Frozen custard in Wales. This way when the three or so BMW M3 that live in the area you guys can see some "fast" cars.

X2 on a sponsors location, Or if we could get a handful of people together to chip in and rent a Milwaukee County park for a day (really isn't that expensive last i thought, you could almost do it there) Or Check on a business that wants to get a car show going.

1. Sit around somewhere, doing nothing.

2. Go to a track (GLD) or rent a large parking lot (Autocross?), having options.

As much as I hate to agree with Irish he does have a point. There has been little turn over as far as the cars in BCM are concerned. We have seen them all more than once. Doing something like drag racing will bring more people to the show. None the less, if we are going to do something like this and have more cars other than BCM members attend, we need to some kind of advertising well in advance.

Perhaps we could piggy back on some event at Road America.....

I love you as a brother in Christ Coop, but your behavior continues to be perplexing to me. Hell, I don't even know how you started disliking me, and I have never cared why I guess, as we have so many things in common. There are many more (mainly behavior) that we are divergent on however. Perhaps its those divergences that upset you? Perhaps you should study your circle of influence (you) a little harder and concentrate a little less on your circle of concern (others)? Remember Coop, the only thing that you have the power to change is you. No matter how many "stainman" comments or digs on my car, you will never change me, only I have the power to do that. I have let those digs go by unchecked for at least a year, and besides this comment, they will continue to be bypassed again, but I just wanted to put some concepts out there that you may want to study. Start with the Bible of course, after that "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", is a life changer.

God bless brother, hope you get it all figured out one day and we can have a big laugh over it.

I'm up for a sponsor's place, or a restaurant or something along those lines. The RX7 has a cracked windshield (won't pass tech) and the Belvedere is so God damn slow. Had a good time at the show in Kenosha a few years back.

Although I do like Irish's idea of a big parking lot and autocross. That would be a lot of fun. I've never done autocross but have wanted to try it.

As for a cause to donate to, what about Wounded Warrior Project, or Children's? I seem to remember my first BCM show I went to was for Children's, at one of the sponsors' places in Waukesha?

Either way, I'm looking forward to some g2g's with you guys this year. I spent the last couple years working all the time and never really got to hang out or meet many other BCMers. This year, I want to get my ass out with my car(s) and have some fun.

I don't believe Eric frequents many bars as it is, so that statistic doesn't matter much either.

A girl doesn't have to be taking her clothes off for money, or at a bar for it to be obvious she has no self respect. Self respect or no self respect , I'll give her a dollar if she shows them to me.

No need for name calling.

Happily married. It's simple, most of us have wives/girlfriends and families, and stopped going to strip clubs after we settled down. Its always a mixed crowd on the subject, but I just seriously have no interest in throwing money at women to see their goodies. That's so 9 years ago to me. Even if I wasn't married, I'd pay the same amount of money to dine a nice classy lady who shares my interest, and at the end of the night I'll be rewarded. Paying "club" prices for drinks, on top of paying for entertainment, is just not appealing to me these days. It should be respected, for those who would taper off after GLD or any events chosen to go home or elsewhere, just as I would respect those going to the strip club. Have a blast man, 9 years ago I would have been right there with you. Its all to the good.

Its cool man, I know plenty of married guys who still go to strip clubs, with understanding wives, some with not so understanding wives. I also know a lot of guys like me who just don't see a use for paying to see titties these days. To each his own.

I like the new plan. A real man's day. We could try to get some paint balling or something, so we can shoot at each other instead of targets. Now that would be awesome. Are there any large scale paint ball grounds in the area? I was just remembering a conversation with a guy I work with who just played large scale paint ball. Two teams, each with a hill, he went' all BF4 and sat on a hill sniping people, it sounded crazy as hell! Just a thought. I still wouldn't mind going to the range. I still haven't shot this XD I've had for a while. Was planing on going to this range in Kenosha I keep hearing about, and Kenosha is where I'll be living soon. I might be a frequent customer!

so i started cleaning this thread up, and realized there is no point. You guys are having fun, yay. However.

EVERYONE goes "yeah i'm down to help tell me when"

without realizing how much planning is involved to make sure the event isn't a shitshow. The major questions asked haven't been answered. GLD with want at minimum a flat fee. Food can be done there, but again, last time i was involved in an event, if we had a large group, and a food "tent" sorta, they wanted specifics on what it was, how much, etc. AKA they wanted to make sure we weren't selling to regular spectators. If this is a CHARITY event, which it probably should be, behavior is gonna be an issue. We represent BCM, ourselves, nobody cares. We throw the MACC fund name on it, people care. Also, nobody has suggested a date. Help Dave out here, he's organized this stuff before, and it's tough. Plenty of time left, but some constructive ideas would be good. Those who suggested venues, contact those venues, get more info. Also, if you wanna use the zoo parking lot, miller park parking lot, you can't be doing doughnuts and burnouts. SCCA gets to leave tire marks, but there's no major junk going on.........

However you do have a point,I think the powers that be should get together and decide on a couple or 3 different venues, then 2 or three diff. dates put up and poll vote. youll never satisfy everyone but I think it would be the least stressfull way and best way to get the biggest showing with least bitching. In the end, you'd get about 4 people, if that, to commit to that. I do like the idea tho, been 3 years since I had my gear out of the bag.
