Best looking Mustang built in a very long time.

Its not so bad, looks like Ford took advantage of there European ownerships and stole from Jaguar and Aston Martin......ugly but not so bad Dave :)

Not a bad looking platform to work with. So who is going to be the first putting a SBC or a LS motor in one. I was told the guys a ford already did it so they could be the first.

+'s: I like how the hood looks longer, sleeker. I like how the A-piilar appears more dramatically raked, and the visually cleaner greenhouse. I like how they were able to create a visual effect of lightness through thin looking A and C pillars, and blacked out ground effects.

-'s: the headlights and the grille don't look as they belong together at some angles...like they worked too hard to create visual/hereditary traits b/w the new mustang and other fords like the taurus/fusion/edge rather than just simple evolutions of the mustang apart from the ford family. Unfortunately, what I think they fixed on the grille in the 2010 redesign of the previous generation, they revert back somewhat here (namely, the sad-fish mouth grille that was better integrated in '10). The visual effect of the blackedout rear panel makes it seem again, like they tried too hard to create a small visual presence, but now it looks like someone trying to fit into pants a few sizes too small...emo skinny boy jeans-esque. Fake hood vents work well on some cars, but here it interrupts otherwise clean lines and shapes. The rear 3/4 character line just above and behind the rear wheel arch looks superfluous.

Overall: I like it. Looks leaner, sleeker, and cleaner. Better than the current itteration, and certainly much less toyish than the 05-09 years. A good evolution overall. There are supposed to be some small improvements in the 5.0, no changes in the 3.7 v6, and the addition of a 2.3 turbocharged 4....the latter of which strikes me as the most intriguing aspect of the new mustang.

A friend of mine has sworn he'd buy a mustang if they ever made one with a four-cylinder again...since that was the first car he owned. Well, we'll see how serious he is about that promise...I've been warning him for the past few years that it's coming, lol.

Seems like a logical progression to the current one. We'll see how the IRS does in time :)

I'll trade up my 12 for one eventually. All coyote, all day, for me though.

Unless your some backwoods hillrod with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove to no one who cares, why would you go backwards?

Nice looking car, definitely Aston Martin inspired in many ways... But a Mustang it is not... Especially with the stupid fake stuff, and blacked out "accents" that should have gone out in the 5-8+ years ago when the prices of these cars got stupid...

They should have called it something else, start a new model or something... And I agree, they slapped on "photoshopped" classic Mustang traits to make it "Mustangish"... If anything they are just doing it to piss on the European models... :D

All IMHO...

Oh, I will add, the retro'd interior is just as fugly as the newer Camaros... same stupidity... leave the past in the past...

For the most part, I like it. It will take some time before the front end grows on me. Will I be buying one some time soon.......No, however it does look better than what I thought.

Preorders are being taken as early as next week!

Who said anything about fake?I'd bet they are. Seriously...so few cars use real ones anymore, and for what purpose would those ones be in that location?

It looks a little tacked on as if it was coming with a clean, sleek hood design and some big wig remembered who buys these things and said "listen...it needs to be just a bit tackier. It can be classy, but not *too* classy fellas...."

It's a two door Taurus with a Mustang rear. It's ok and far better looking than the Camaro and especially the C7.

I'd bet it shares the platform with that new Jag.

IMHO actually looks pretty good.
They definitely managed to keep both the "mustang" and "ford" design languages in the body. Doesnt look too overdone as the C7 does.

Now I don't know of its the wheelbase or what but the car still looks bloated to me though. I was really hoping for a lean and mean chassis. Obviously not enough information or test mules are out there yet to really know so I reserve further judgment until more of them are out there. On paper it does look like it will be a great car!

This is set to debut in Detroit in a few weeks, no?

P.S. what they need to do is take this platform and modify for 4-door duty and badge a coupe and sedan as a Lincoln. Because:
A) I want a sedan (along with a little extra refinement) based on this platform
B) Lincoln so badly needs something to start this "rebirth" they have been claiming. They are getting their ass handed to them by Cadi right now!

What I'm curious to see is will the new mustang really be much lighter? It seems some sources that have been touting that it'll be 200lbs lighter than the current one are hedging their bets.

That is the real question!
Supposedly the s550 mustang platform (this) was shooting for around 3200 pounds for a base model! Clearly much if that weight loss was achieved by throwing in a 4 cylinder.. but still when you do a little paper math you realize that if true that would be most typically optioned GT manual versions would be coming in around the 3400 mark which is still VERY good. Add on to it a totally new chassis and an IRS and you have the makings of a great vehicle.

Said it once and I'll say it again:
Ford has set them self up well here if they can deliver on the weight and IRS... and they clearly have the talent to do so. This mustang will almost surely leap frog the 6th gen (alpha based) Camaro. It should caught up in suspension (although never rule out GMs power with the magna ride damper tech), have similar horsepower output, and be markedly lower weight. Also don't forget the coyote doesn't yet have direct injection although clearly designed for it.
I actually think if you look close enough and ford can dial the chassis/suspension in well enough they will be able to challenge the Vette for sports car value proposition.

They *say* that their track benchmark is the "Boss" mustang (not the laguna seca though), so that's a pretty decent start if true.

It would be cool if they put the EcoBoost V6 in as another option. I would rather have that engine than the 5.0. Not saying the 5.0 is a bad engine I just love turbos.

I'm usually against hood vents (the actual % in engine temperature drop is almost always negligible). However the 2013/14 and now 2015 are functional.

Agreed.
Base = V6
Mid Level = TT V6
GT = Coyote
Cobra = S/C V8

I get the whole "going to be a world Mustang" so they went with a 4 cyl turbo for gas mileage purposes but I'd much rather see a TT V6 for a mid-level engine option.

Already planning to set aside the funds for the trade in of the '13 and get a '15. As much as I'd like to pre-order, going to wait on more information and option packages, as it seems there is going to be a Track Pack/Enthusiast model GT and a Premium. Plus I want to hold out if there is going to be a Mach 1 or a Shelby version. Also I want Grabber Blue for a color. :-\
