Now that I have an Audi and VW, I'm thinking of getting a vag-com from ross tech. Any one used it/have one? Worth the $250?

What are you looking to do with it?

I would check obdchina for the Vag tools. They are significantly cheaper and work the same. I bought a lot of stuff from there.

It is definitely worth it because it does do a lot of shit, and connects to all of your onboard modules. If you only want to pull check engine codes and thats about it, then the regular free vag-com and $5 cable from ebay should work just fine. The full version of vag-com will allow you to do the 402 mod, as well as reprogram stuff and re-calibrate sensors. You also get vag-com support which is almost worth the money as well.

I love the system – even though I don’t use it much. I pretty much only use my hand held code reader that reads VAG COM data now. I don’t like needing to use a laptop.

There are so many more VAG COM codes compared to ODBII. I like the VAG COM system a lot.

Looking for diagnostic stuff and also was reading about the ability to modify things through the software and thought that was cool. Sounds like it'll do what I want . I'll have to get one.

As a side note, stopped by Milwaukee Audi for a couple parts today. Holy crap that the fanciest dealer I've ever been to.
Parts guy has a white shirt and tie, service area where they work on the cars was tiled. Couple R8's there hardtop and vert.

It's Volkswagen auto group. Don't think vag translated too well.

I just got mine in the mail today. Ended up getting the 1995-2014 setup. If you need anything done I'll be home over Thanks Giving and the week after.
