FYI, Walmart on 27th in Franklin had 4 1000 round cases of Federal AE XM855 (62gr green tip) for $477 (or $447, darn now I can't remember) this afternoon. Not great but it seems like an OK price right now if you don't want to mail order.

The more I think about it, the more I think it was $447.

Noticing 308/ 7.62 ammo at Walmarts? Looking for 165 and up grain, manufacture not important.
Cheapest heavy loads at Gander and Cablelas has been$25 to 47 a box.

Russ. Not as heavy as you want but righteous price for 147 grain. $12.99/box

My new rig with 1/10 twist sends light rounds out like shotgun bird load :( 168, 170, 175 and 180 lands in nickel size groups at 200 so Im screwed.

Same WM had many boxes of Federal "Deer Thugs" 180gr soft point for $24.

hmmm....your 1/10 doesn't like lighter loads? I haven't shot mine yet so now I'm curious.

Anybody interested in Black Hills Mk262 77gr 5.56? I might be ordering some on Monday.

I haven't hit Franklin but I went bye the 83/43 location, cleaned them out of last 180 and 165gr 308's they had.
Have not tried the brands so cant wait to test groups, thanks for spotters!

With a much bigger scope for target/predator work now I may revisit light rounds, I may be spoiled bye the tight groups of the heavy loads.

Regular cleaning and now broken in I saved some light 147 and 155 grains to try again. Hard work but has to be done :)
