Well fuck me, now my wife's trailblazer is broke. Was coming home from the state fair and hit a manhole cover that was popped up in Stallis right on Hwy just south of Greenfield. Axle and a whole bunch of other stuff are fucked. It was a pretty hard hit too since it threw the back of the truck up a ways.
I can't catch a god damn break.

File a police report then take it to a body shop and call insurance asap. Without the police report insurance has a harder time trying to get reimbursed(I learned that lesson already).

Another guy called the cops for me because he hit it also and did some damage to his van. The city guy was there and "fixed" it or was about to fix it and I hit it. The cops came and gave me a report number already.

OMG I watched you hit it. I was just pulling up to hwy 100 off mitchel when i heard BOOM! It looked nasty. I'm surprised the city guy just sat there while he waited for someone to hit that thing thats retarded. I would definately be having some words with the city. Sad thing was i was thinking why didn't that happen to my truck so i could get the axle fixed. Bad luck sorry bud :(

Well hey. You can be a witness! rofl. Yeah it didn't feel too great.

Yeah the city guy didn't even see if we were alright or anything. A couple guys stopped though to see if everything was alright. I actually walked the block up to where the city guy was and where I hit it and he ran off to his truck to block it.

it's kind of hard to see a loose man hole cover in the road where everyone's tires drive over it. only reason I'm sure I could see that it was popped up was where I was sitting in relation to the hole. best part was I seen that can that hit it earlier. he popped it completely out into the road. so they had to have dropped the cover back in once already!

A little update. We are ending up going with insurance because if we wait for the city, it will take over a month for them to make a decision because they have to wait for a monthly meeting then if they pass it, it goes to the attorney for his approval.. In which case they may not even cover it. So insurance is going to look at the report and see if they can blame the city or not. The report doesn't say that the city is to blame but the city worker's statement kind of does so we will see.

Axle is getting replaced, wheel and tire obviously, the brake caliper snapped off, and the frame is dented and cracked a bit so that will get pounded out and welded (it's very minor).
