we have a window a/c unit that is built into the wall. it is dead... and i have no clue what im doing.

here i thought this would be a pretty straight forward removal/install, but here im still stuck on the removal.

i have no clue how to remove this thing from the house. youd think there was a sleeve, but it doesnt look that way.

some help would GREATLY be appreciated.

Take a picture of it, there are units called " Magic Paks " that are combo units and then there are OLD school A/C units from the late 70's early 80's that were built in.

My old apartment had that exact same unit... Was put in new in 2009, probably as an older overstock model (the apartment management sucked and was cheap)...

They do slide in from the front I believe... Whomever installed yours just put in trim to seal it. You will have to rip all that off from the outside...

When ours was put in it came with the optional tray sleeve that you would permanently mount first and then just slide it into it. The apartment had it mounted just like yours, no sleeve, just caulked and sealed into place.

I would try pulling the interior grill off first to see if it can be pulled into the house from the sleeve. The case would be secured to the house on the exterior under the trim pieces.

we have a very similar set up two years ago it quit working it was a real sob to change couldnt find onr the same size so my landlord had to make the hole larger but ours came out through the inside of the house the unit pulled out and then the sleve had a few screws into it took the better part of a night to change

I think I've seen this one before. Two screws near the bottom on the front bezel, bezel flips up. There is a screw for a grounding strap between the AC unit and the sleeve.
