Really? I have this much of an effect on you... you think about me long enough to transfer your insults between threads? I don't know if I should be honored, or lock my doors.

That's kool, let us know how she runs, good luck!

Irish

In three runs I'm calling it like this..

14.5 @ 98.4mph, 2.2 60'
14.2@ 98.9mph, 2.1 60'
14.0@99.2mph, 2.0 60'

I hope you break into the 13's though! I think your tires may plague you. Dump the clutch hard enough to launch but, not so hard you cook the tires off. :)

Michelle,
Stay out of the water box. Drive around it and just steam the tires a little on the prep to clean them.
Don't mash the go peddle on green. A nice smooth launch without tire spin but shift like there's no tomorrow to stay in the torque curve. You might bounce off the limiter going into the traps but stay out of 5th.
Drop your rear tire pressure down to about 16lbs. It'll feel mushy but you'll get lots of bite with the prep even with street tires. You might feel a slight bog on launch due to the bite but stay in it.
If you can do a sub 2.0 60' you'll hit 13s.

I'm going to be more pessimistic....fairly unfamiliar car to the driver for one...

...and while it's a decent engine, it's in the relatively heavy SN-95's. Hell, the regular 215hp 5.0's had their work cut out for them to catch a 14.9's in 94-95 in these things. Even the first 305hp multi-valve mod engines were right around 14.0-13.9's. I'll simply split the difference:

14.3-14.6 @ 97-98 mph.

Hey, if you beat these times, I'll be more than impressed...but I can't tell you how many times people go out believing they got an "XX" second car only to be severely disappointed in the results. Regardless of what some people have accomplished in these stock or "stock" or they're simply and baldly lying calling it "Stock", you can't always expect the hero results of others. It'll take the fun away from if you do....

And that's the most important thing...have fun!

How much does it cost to run at the grove these days? I'm curious as to how well my grocery getter (300 c) & my poop ltjuan would do. Is it sill super packed on certain days with a bunch of ricers & fart can civics etc...?

It's been about 6 years since I've been there but this would be fun to pit one or both of my cars against some cars. I'm really interested in makeing a trip over there sometime in the very near future. I couldn't do it today but if y'all do another get together this summer please post up about it.

tuesday is generally the most open night to run...30-35 bucks to run on tues/weds usually. Wednesday can be a bit more crowded, but usually not bad.

Friday is when you'll get more of the off-the-street crowd, some of whom are completely clueless...but can be fun just to run against stuff you'd encounter at most street lights. Less runs that night generally too...

I'll try being a little more explicit:

What was the elapsed time between when you left the starting line and crossed the finish line 1/4 mile away?

Prince Valiant
06-19-2013, 10:04 PM
14.48@96.07 MPH, 2.08 60 foot time

Waver
06-19-2013, 10:54 PM
14.48@96.07 MPH, 2.08 60 foot time

That is not bad for being unfamiliar with the car and having never ran it before. Get that 60' time down and the car should run a 14.3 easy.

I will be interested to see what the final time was though....

My guess was 15.2.

My rule of thumb with the drag strip...if it's your first time with a new car, add a second to what everyone thinks you're going to be running...lol.
