So I ran the fuel tank really low in my 2000 grand prix gt non supercharged. It didn't out right die but it now surges. It has been about 100mile since I refilled it and it will just randomly surge or when coming to a stop it will die. I have some ideas but want to hear from the internet experts! Thanks

My guess would be a fuel filter after getting sediment once the fuel was so low.

Easy fix to start with, anyway.

Sounds like a canooter valve issue to me.

Dirty IAC motor all carboned up or a dirty MAF.

I would think if the filter was clogged the car you would get a lean code and when you were to get on the throttle it wouldnt much of anywhere due to the lack of fuel. Try unplugging the maf and see if the loopy idle goes away. Also hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see what you get for KOEO and while idling. Other possibilities are, IAC, vacuum leak or fuel pressure regulator. Check the FPR by pulling off the vacuum line off the top and if there's fuel in the vacuum line and the diaphragm side of the FPR then it's bad.

regulators are common on the 3.8 does it crank long time before start? fuel filter wouldn't hurt if you haven't done one recently

I think the sediment in the tank is a myth, nowadays anyway.
The fuel filter sock is right at the bottom of the tank along with any dirt/debris that might be hangin out down there, so it would get sucked onto the filter regardless of how much gas you have in there.

If anything, there is a small chance the fuel pump may have been damaged from running out of gas... but that's debateable.
