Not an original idea, but I haven't given my welder much exercise.

I'm open to suggestions on how to cut down a 1/4" wall 1.25" chromoly axle. I ordered the smallest they had and its at least a foot too long. Still need to dress the welds, paint and come up with a steering system and a handle.

I could turn down the axle for you on a lathe

I have a old metal wagon body that I wanted to make a lifted wagon out of maybe I will have to start that

Flip the tires.

LOL, yep, its just mocked together.

I would love to take you up on that. What would it cost me to get it cut and then just re-machine in the snap ring groove?

I built it with the intent of doing that eventually, but it'll be getting more than a 2hp 4 cycle.

I would be happy to take care of it for you for free while I am at work. We just gotta figure out when I could get it from you, and I would like you to just put on paper what you need me to do to it and I'll take care of it. I see you are in the falls. I frequent that area so I am sure we can figure something out.

I appreciate it, but if I need to pick up tooling cost or anything let me know. I'm done mocking up and just need to work on the front end now, so if you wanna make arrangements I'll PM you my number.

Cut a foot from middle, if not confident in welding add a slip tube over middle. I could do it while you wait, easy cheasy.

+1 for slip tube if welding. Cutting it down an machining the groove would be the best option though.... You can't beat that lol

Chassis is drying now, the rod ends I chose ended up providing a steering lock for me at about the right angle..

Way over complicating the process... especially seeing as cutting it is the hard part.

Yeah, its not an original idea, and I'm already looking at what it'll take to get a CRF50 drivetrain on it. The steering linkage is designed so that I can replace the handle with a u-joint and a steering wheel, the rear axle is a full live axle, and I asked Jason to cut down the axle about 3" long so that I can add a sprocket and a rotor between the wheel and the body. LOL

BTW, if anyone is interested I have 2 more full sets of wheels and a shit load of slicks.

Finally done. Big thanks to Jason for cutting the axle down for me! Did a little front end alignment by putting it on its side and just putting everything level.

If anyone knows of a busted up CRF 50 or similar let me know.
