Call around. You might be surprised at the difference in scrap prices. A few months ago I scrapped (literally) more than one hundred aluminum wheels and drove to Waukesha because the amount I got was that much more. This was taking into account my time, gas, and the overall hassle of hauling everything out there.

EDIT: I forgot to mention scrap prices change daily, sometimes drastically.

I always go to Tri star recycling. Located on 13th st just north of Layton. cans don't usually change that drastically day to day. Everything else does tho. Cans are at .55c per lb right now at Tri star.

Me too. Cast aluminum is cheaper. I think its only at .30c lb. copper pipe is at 2.50 mixed iron I got .10 last time. Thats the one that chages the most. Ive seen it anywhere from .8 to .12 per lb.. Makes a difference when have 1k lbs or more thats for sure.

Yes. Im a scrapper. Not like the guys you see with 8ft sides on a beat up truck. But if im going somewhere and I see it out im taking it. Its easy beer money.

I think I got almost as much for the pair of brake drums off of my blown 10-bolt...

I'm no scrapper, I was honestly just happy to have the shit out of my garage, the fact that they paid me for my time and gas was nice though. I've got another load of junk rotors and misc crap thats going to have to go come spring.

fyi the pull tab on the top is worth more then the can. I always pull them off and put them in a bucket and scrap them separate

Kral in Big Bend is paying 60 cents a pound for aluminum cans. They also have prices posted for the various catalytic converters.
