I've been looking at LT1 F-bodies and similar gen mustangs, but I'm open to just about anything. Strong preference to a manual trans and RWD.

I have a 1993 bmw 325i that's been swapped with a 5.0l and t5 from a mustang. Very little interior, suspension setup for auto-x/road racing. If you're interested I'd talk about selling, I have too many cars!

Wagonbacker9

2 or 4 door? do you have the interior for it? you have my curiosity if nothing else.

rcutclif
02-09-2013, 09:59 AM
I no longer have the interior (I guess I have maybe a couple boxes of stuff, but don't have most of it). It is a 4 door, which is actually a stiffer chassis than the 2 door.

I don't have pics handy, but I can get some early next week.

No rush, the only car I was looking at seriously just fell through and I'm not in a hurry.

Someone in Indiana is selling the parts for a RWD setup. $1500.

I'll stick with FWD and less headaches. Or just buy a factory RWD car.

Good luck in your search!

I'm effectively priced out of any turbo scoob, which are the only ones I have interest in owning. Good thought, especially with my desire to get into a Project 818 eventually, just isn't in the cards for now.

The maro doesn't seem like a bad idea. At least from the ad certainly seems like a decent option.

Alternatively you already have a nice high powered RWD car. Seems like something different might be kind of fun... could be anything really. Cheap auto-x or road race car, a cheap truck, bike, etc?!

And yea I highly doubt you are going to find any decent turbo subi for 4k.

If you're referring to the GTO, I sold it back in August before my son came.. I miss it deeply and that is why I'm looking for a toy (and not coincidentally why V8 RWD is where I go first). Driving the tahoe is killing a piece of me every day.

I looked at a bike but I had one when I was 19, and it just doesn't make sense for me in this state. I also did locate a 1999 RCLB Silverado that has a LQ4 with PRC 5.3s and just needs to be bolted together and tuned. If it wasn't in Kansas I'd be all about it. Transport costs are a bitch, and I really just can't risk towing that far with my 273K mile tahoe. lol

I love the 818 too. You may not be able to get a NICE turbo suby for 4k, but you definitely CAN get one for 4k. if its a second car, and the body's rusty, but you plan on 818 in the future, and now you don't care about snow and salt and crud (read: ice racing) in the short term... (pm sent for pics of the BMW BTW, if you want)

The only scoobs I've seen go that cheap were major mechanical issues, wrecked, and one salvage rebuild with nearly 200K on it. Find me one and I'll definitely take a look, but I've been surfing nasioc for about 3 months and come up empty.

I agree there is always room for a turbo. Or ANOTHER turbo. Nitrous takes even less space.

I went to look at that top one. I offered him 3K, he woudln't go below 3300. CLutch chattering, needs paint, needs a driver's seat cover, and tires.

An LS powered F body worth owning starts at 6K, IMO anything less will be a mess unless you steal it from a desperate seller. But that roller is a solid starting point and I already have most of whats needed to get it going, leaving more budget for a nice stall, and some other fun parts.

RF caliper, driver's window motor, preventative rust repair in front of both rear wheels, weld up a leak in the exhaust (has muffler delete), speakers (unlikely I address this), and potentially a rear bumper cover which also likely leave as is.

Driving it instead of a tahoe. No desire to take it to the strip until it has a fighting chance of bettering my GTO's time (13.0, I'm far from a pro driver, and DA correction took it down to like a 12.3, I think, for reference)... which really it is probably not too far away from, but I'd rather not break shit either, so we'll see. Doing the reading I've done, it appears that sway bars are easy on this, which is nice, because on my GTO it was a BITCH both front and rear. I'd love to build it into a good road course car, but I'm several grand away from being where I'd want to for that, so for now, V8 street car that will take me to work without putting me to sleep.

Depends on the driver, and how tired the car is. Oh... and its got cooper cobras on it... seriously doubt they hook for shit. But in theory, no, in fact I've read they're 12.8 capable on drag radials bone stock (thats assuming fresh engine and no breakage though.. lol).

So, it is now road worthy, with some upgrades:
Front brake pads, rotors, and calipers
Solid shifter handle, no stupid rubber bushing, about 1.5" shorter than stock.
Driver's side window regulator and motor
Both exterior mirrors (driver's looked like shit, now they're body color)
Rear shocks, Strange single adjustable
Hotchkis panhard rod
Put in new door speakers while I had the panels off for the mirrors/regulator as the surrounds were shot
LED blinker flasher (not the old thermal style)
Clear front lenses (one was broken)
Clear rear side lenses
Front turn signals are now LED switchbacks
New fog lamp bulbs
SLP lid
Gates Serp Belt
AC belt removed, something is squealing, I think the clutch its quiet when the clutch engages. I may ditch AC entirely.

I also welded in a pair of car seat top tether mounts, as they weren't equipped until 2000.

Still need rear LCAs, subframe connectors, and wheels that don't look like ass. Very strong chance I plastidip the stockers for now.
