I know they've changed the moniker to LT again...but this doesn't strike me as being at all far removed from the LS engines. More than a bore/stroke/head revision, but not too much more.

Far less radical in my mind than the FIRST LT1 to LS1 change (97-98)....this strikes me like the L98 to LT1 jump.

I'm shocked that they're introducing another pushrod engine.

^ GM tried a dohc engine in the 90's called the "X" motor and we all know how that worked out. LOL. They should stick with what works for them, which is a push rod design.

That pushrod motor is averaging +50hp over its predecessor with better efficiency, but the LT moniker bugs me...no reason to go to that, IMO a "NEW" engine code would do a better job creating buzz for non-gm enthusiasts...i feel like to the uninformed, its going to yield a lot of craigslist ads with people thinking all those old LT parts are going to be worth something :)

I only care about the DI....can't wait to see what happens with the ability to keep 11+ compression and add a turbo. DI + direct port meth injection + boost=massive win.....looking forward to hearing an end to all the Coyote nutswinging.

I'm shocked that they're introducing another pushrod engine. What's wrong with pushrods?

Cheaper to design, build, service, usually easier to package, no real sacrifice in power, durable....the list goes on. There are absolutely no net advantages for GM to build a OHC v8.

Which engine is the "X" motor?

I think my pushrod statement is being misinterpreted as a complaint. I'm honestly just surprised they're able to continue to make improvements on that design platform. I love 2 of my 3 LSx motors and my only beef with the 3rd is that its on a stand.

Apparently a 750hp twin turbo 6.2 is in the works for the C7 ZR1. Also a twin turbo 3.6 v6 is also due, probably an answer to the Ecoboost 3.5

i know it wasnt a true chevy motor seen as how it was designed with Lotus, but the mid 90's ZR1 had a DOHC in it.... the LT5 i think??

Yes, built by Mercury Marine. Nelson Racing Engines is doing a big block version of it, they're calling it the "revolution." They've been working on it a while, and they have a lot of experience building the LT5.
