I have the chance to trade my 2004 SY Cobra (and $ of course) for a 2012 GT500 track pack Kona Blue with stripe delete. I have a ton of shit done to my cobra and granted my car is only putting down 456rwhp, so the Shelby would be a step up. Would you trade?

I would...if the monies isn't objectionable of course. Better engine, better chassis, better looking (imo) and...well, the list goes on. I mean, if your cobra was something you saw yourself holding onto for a number of years and growing old with, then I might think twice...but really, it seems that you'd be better off w/ a gt500....

Rick, I've seen your car and it is absolutely gorgeous. Don't do it unless you going for the ultimate factory Mustang and that is the 2013 GT500.

So what are the numbers? How many 03/04 cobra's were built -vs- how many shelby's were built?

Think about it, the Shelby GT500 has been a constant model since 2007. The Termy was only for two years. Do you really need to see numbers?

Think about it, the Shelby GT500 has been a constant model since 2007. The Termy was only for two years. Do you really need to see numbers?Whereas there ARE more GT500's produced, it's not necessarily intuitive that there are more simply due to the number of years they were produced; If they put limits on production of say 2,000 cars/year, there wouldn't be more shelby's than termy's...so actually looking up the numbers is in fact helpful in this case:

Total cobra production 2003-2004: 19,140
http://www.muscularmustangs.com/2005/svtcobraprod03.php

Total Shelby GT500 production 2007-2009: 22,989 + 2000 MY 2010+ 5500 MY 2011 and no word on the numbers produced in 2012 yields: 30,489

Um, so you just went through all that bullshit to say they made more Shelby's than cobras? Isn't that what Nick just said?

Nope, I went through all that to actually show the production numbers. True...took about 3 minutes to find/source actual numbers. Sure, it might be more work than you get done in a day, but represents just a little leg-work to me...hardly bullshit.

Was just curious. If I didn't want to know I wouldn't have asked. Figured since you made the statement you had them readily available.

Like most of the bolt ons done to your cars over the years, someone else had to do it for you.

Keep the termi....you have it done up how you like it plus your are forking over cash for a non-depreciated car for the most part that you will end up taking the hit on. Plus the yellow is so nice!

Assuming the 3 minutes was web searching... what, exactly, did your legs have to do for this besides help to tap your foot involuntarily while you waited for search results? :goof

Lol, I changed it to make it accurate. I dont see what is so bad in getting help. Most of the cars on BCM have been built with help. I do take pride in being a part of working on a majority of the mods to my car, there are just some things that I cannot do in the parking lot of my apartment.

I dont know who put the bee up your ass. Who gives a shit what my car runs, how much work I have done to it or any of that. IT HAS NOT A GOD DAMN THING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD.

Oh when I made the statement I just used logic. You were hoping and praying that I was wrong.....you lose.

Lmaoiyf!

Go buy some tools, bust out your JC Whitney catalog and go to town newbski!

You use logic? When did that start?

I never said you were wrong, I was just curious as to what the numbers were and you replied like a sanctimonious asshole.

Don't start none, won't be none! Acclimate that to your logical rolodex!

For fucksake shut up you stupid bitches and provide some positive feedback for the op!

I have already done that, and that is how this shit fest was started. Like I said, I prefer the 03/04 Termys over the GT500's. There are fewer 03/04 Termys out there, you dont see Yellow Termys every day. For that matter, his car is nice and he has it where he wants it, so why get something different?

I think I'm going to hang onto my 04 cobra. Something about trading between friends just isn't sitting well with me, and I don't want to loose a friend over it. I think if I sell my cobra it has to go out of state cause I couldn't stand to see someone else owning it. I sold my blk 90 Mustang GT to a good friend (who stated I riped him off and 2 months later he sold the car for a $2700 profit) and that turned out ugly, and needless to say we really dont talk anymore.

Coop it wasn't Gregs car, this 12 Kona blue GT500 is very nice with 1200 miles, but I think I'm to attached to the 04.

Probably going to be selling my Whipple 2.3L w/ fuel & pulleys soon to upgrade to a 3.4 with the rebuild. Maybe you just need some more power to fall in love again? 600rwhp is a nice streetable but still very fun number.

How much boost with a 3.4 does it take to hit the 600rwhp mark?

I know a guy that is running a 2.8 with15lbs of boost, making a tick over 600.

I'm not sure. I did 592 with a 2.3 at 19. But a 3.4 isn't stock block friendly. I think most people end up high 600s if they have head work and a stroker. But you need a clutch, brace, input shaft and pistons.

The stock forged pistons won't hold up? I thought they were supposed to be good for 800-900?

They need new pistons at that level to stay together. That being said I went boom bitch with aftermarket pistons on less and others have run way more on stock shortblocks.

In general most of the large numbers are turbo cars which see lighter street duty or centrifugal cars which don't see a lot of miles.

600-650rwhp is considered safe.

But it's always a personal preference thing. I would hate driving my car with 800rwhp on a stock block. I would be worrying about it letting go every time I drive it.
