I never said I have one, but my friend a few blocks away has that car I mentioned. He went through his list of mods and work prices and it came up around 5k. If you want to race him, I'll try to get him on the forum. I was talking to him earlier today and he did mentioned that he was a bargain shopper. So he could have spent more if he paid full for the parts. But my pint on the other thread was that 8-14k is a lot of money to spend on the motor alone just to hit 11's. You can buy one of those monster crate motors from chevy that puts out 700+ hp for less than your 14k high estimate.

Unless engine work costs much more than I thought, your estimate of 8-14k threw me off.

BTW- I live in Cedarburg, the owner of that car lives in Grafton.

Now as for the pic, what do you think?

were i got my figures from
machine work 1900.00 in just block alone
rods 1200.00
pistons 500.00w rings an light wt pins
crank work ( stock crank)600.00
heads 3500.00
now add misc parts
my car is only in the 11s by my choice
im sure if i tuned it timing , jetting, susp, so forth and matt the pedal down hard enough . im possitive it will run a very good number off the bottle
and extreme number with 300hp shot now you see why there is so much into a motor
i would still like to race your freinds street car or drag car??

What did you all have done to your crank?

Thanks.

Now you have me wondering if the work I plan on will cost me more than I thought. I want to get (if needed) my cylinders bored slightly, honed, the blocked decked, heads leveled and ported, and the crankshaft bearings cleaned up.

I just found out that the deck and head leveling will increase compression so that I might not need higher comp pistons.

As for the tractor, I call it

the crank i had done

cut / lighten / nitrited/ all the journals tappered for strength even though its a stock crank cast crank its super strong

its not cheap any more to build stuff
basic block work is about 350 to 650 and ifyou get wild it could run up to 2500.00
alighn bore 125.00
bore and hone 240.00
deck block 125.00
deck heads 100.00
average pricing
