It's time for a new camera. Wife says $300 limit :p
What are my options for something decent?

I've always like canons, hard to go wrong.

Yeah I had a canon back in the day. It was good at the time.

my point and shoot (which is horribly out-dated at this point) is an SD750. I picked it up as a supliment to my 20D SLR because its very good for wide angle stuff, and SLR wide angles are stupid expensive. I would NOT use it for a general use camera, but my mom has its brother the SD1000 and loves it. I'm sure those are both at least a couple generations old though.

I have all Canon stuff and never had a problem. Good way to go.

Great point-n-shoot from Sony. We have one with a RED case. We also have the T-200, but the T-200 adds touch screen and takes away the picture quality. I think the Carl Zeiss lens, fast action, and portability with an 8.1mp is great for most shots.

I got a Canon Powershot SX230HS Around Christmas time for less then your limit, now i think they are just about at your limit, but i love it. The pictures are very clear for a basic point and shoot, it has a pretty usable zoom feature. and takes very good night shots, Not to mention does some pretty good video as well.
Some examples. All these pics are 100% unedited, i do believe i used a cheap $10 tripod for the night shots.

Check out kenrockwell.com. That dude is great, and he's got some camera suggestions for any budget.
I have a canon sd1000is or something I would sell for like 100 w original box and case. Paid 350 like 3 years ago, my phone has a great camera on it so I no longer use it

I have this same point and shoot.
It is VERY good for a point and shoot. Especially with low light!
