I'm thinking about buying a cheaper ATV for a upcoming trip up north, but was wondering if there is any local places to ride too. Might spend a bit more on an ATV if I could use it somewhat close to home.

ATV's are better than snowmobiles when it comes to resale, places to ride, and year round use.

That Raptor that Mopar Jim is selling is a pretty good deal. Sorry I can't help with places to ride, we have a bunch up here.

Cheese county trails southwest corner of the state. It used to be an old railroad line so its not very exciting and it has a speed limit of 35mph. Great for beginers(kids) or old people who want an easy ride. The dnr website or travel wisconsin should have more info on state trails and i've been to a lot of them with my sport quads. Favorite places have to be marinette county and Iron county so far. Their are other trails the state websites wont tell you about county, private, winter only, ect. youll have to look around for those. If your going to buy an atv spend some good money on something nice. Check the frame for cracks and if the plastics are in bad shape pass it up, 90%chance its been beat. plastics should look close to new on a well taken care of atv no mater what the year. hope this helps :) Oh, I forgot you'll spend a ton of money on gas.

I go ATV'n and I love to go. Usually go to Clark and Jackson and marinette counties. They don't open till May 1st. The only public atv trails opned right now is the Cheese County one. Really boring but if you want to get out before May 1st then its your only option. Btw I would take a ATV over a snow machine any day. Much more enjoyment in ATVs then being cold riding a snow machine.

Don't know about down here (except Bong) but Tigerton is pretty fun this time of year, you can tear it up and get really muddy and they are usually dead until camping season starts.

I found a good deal on a sportsman 500... I think I'll pull the trigger. Not sure if I'll keep it too long though.
