Holy SHIT!!!! I could never do that and you couldn't even pay me millions to. I am good until about 100 feet then I'm done and even then I'm scared shitless. LOL. That last 60 ft looked the worse, just climbing on that skinny pole and then standing on the very top. Climbing down has to be tough. It would be cool to just base jump off the top when you were done doing the work.

I have seen that video before, my hands get clammy just thinking about it. I am definitely somewhat afraid of heights though.

They make a big deal about carrying his 20lb tool kit up...but I imagine it's harder to drag his 40lb ball sac up...holy hell!

Yeah, thinking about what the slightest breeze would do while he was fiddling with the biener (with both hands mind you) had me searching for my jaw.

I was just in a class here at MSOE that is being taught by the AGC of Greater Milwaukee's Safety Director. He was mentioning that the guys that were rapeling down from the roof of City Hall to do the inspection on the exterior were making $4000/day!! Not what they were being charged to the city at, but what they ACTUALLY MAKE.

Seeing this, I could only imagine (or hope) what kind of money these guys make.

And you believe that?I don't find that impossible to accept...given that it's unlikely they do that specific job everyday.

Its not that far off. We were told at work that Cell towers are a new fontier for us. And they are looking for anyone interested.

I would make in 1 week what I make in a month. Plus they would pay for training, and travel.

Sweet deal, but after 60 feet on a telephone pole I get a bit out of my comfort zone. So 300+ is out of my league.

From who it was coming from, yes... considering he has no reason to lie, his position, his tenure in the business, his DIRECT INVOLVEMENT WITH THE PROJECT, etc...

these weren't the guys who had done the rework, these were the guys who went back down to inspect each and every piece since the initial workers fucked it up and did the work poorly and the terracotta still kept falling off.

maybe he was just trying to impress students with lies. I hate when that happens

Ropelink inc. has been paid a total of $150,000 for inspections on three separate occasions. $50k for each inspection that can take upwards of a week or more with several people. While they do make good money I do think $4k/day is a bit exaggerated. I can see that maybe if the actually engineers were doing the rappelling (like bridge inspecting) but thats not what most info states. Shit.... Most rappelling window washers are lucky to make $15/hr. If the inspectors were getting paid that much, it's not soly for the rappelling, it's because of the engineers rate.

And yes, heaven forbid if a college teacher (and a safety director at that) ever blows smoke up a students ass.
