TPMS 's and the inability to disable them completely.
heated seats
cooled seats
seat belt minders
thermometers that flash "ICE" whenever the temp is below 36*. Yeah, no shit.
the fact that I can't turn on the front vents and windshield defrosters at the same time, only the feet and the windshield.

Heated seats help alot for comfort in the winter. Not really a dumb option IMO. My steering wheel is heated too... LOVE IT.

ASR function on F-Body's.

At least if it was reversible, off until you switch it on, and when on off the dash just would just flash ASR Off like 3 times then the stupid light shuts off. I know they make kits to do this, but it would have been nice from the factory..

That's a fuel economy thing. Helps reduce the parasitic/pumping losses quickly once you are at least away from the stoplight and moving along. In practice not sure exactly how much it helps, but I'm sure it works.

I will say it does totally kill any feeling of response in the car though.

P.S. Animal you are the first person I have ever heard of who thinks heated seats are stupid. IMHO they rock! One of the best options of all time, at least for us Wisconsinites.
Oh also I have one. Newer SAABs have automatic windshield wipers. While they work reasonably well, you have to turn them on EVERYTIME you get in the car, as it doesn't remember the setting... stupid IMO.

Neither of you are right. It wasn't a feature, it was a way to get around the gas guzzler tax and effectively lower the MSRP of the car.

LOL did you read what I said?

The gas guzzler tax IS a fuel economy thing. We are saying the same thing... Look again at what I said:

.. and here is what epa.gov says about the gas guzzler tax:

... The Gas Guzzler Tax is assessed on new cars that do not meet required fuel economy levels...

EDIT: FYI the second part of what I said describes HOW the feature works to reduce the fuel economy.

The options aren't a problem, it's the bundling. Plus horrible design choices.

the stupid beeping "distance" sensor on 90's bmw's. Not the one with a screen or rever camera...but the one that had a little yellow led on each corner and beeped incessantly when you were within an undisclosed distance of anything. It scared the crap out of me when valet'ing for parking a customer cars.

seatbelts in the rear of a crx.

Say that when you have torn and herniated discs in your back, I won't look at a vehicle with out then.

Automatic seat belts (old integras, ford escorts).
Although I guess that's more of a design thing than option.

WERD. I can't drive a car with worn out seats without a pillow behind my back. Adjustable lumbar ftw.

Keys with the chips in them. Great in theory until something happens and you walk out to your car one day after work and the chip fails, If you don't have a second key your DOA and SOL...

^ The PATS system can be turned off with a tune but the police interceptors did not come with it anyway.
I hate how many automatics have a tach but manuals don't. I have driven more auto's that came with it then manuals that have not. I also don't care for those LEDs built into the side mirror as directionals. I could not use the directional and see anything in the mirror at the same time cause they were so bright on one of my cars.

+1 on manual cars with no tach. WTF. I also think the stupid glass rear non-opening sunroof on my Scion is stupid. if it opened like the front it would be cool. I was a little ticked when I found out it didn't open.
