One of the best build threads I've ever seen. Solidworks drawings, animations, video... Lots of tech.

I'm on RX-7 club and subscribed to that thread. Awesome stuff!

I don't even know what Half that shit is on the engine but that guy has determination.....

That is a pretty damn badass buildup of a custom 26B (for lack of a better term) and I love the custom peripheral intake/exhaust port plugs he made. Definitely a better way than welding/porting/devcon like everyone else does.

I will need to watch this one closely! Great work on the eccentric shaft also!

Mother Of God is right!!!!

Cool looking build. Is that engine normaly only 2 sections where this guy is making it 4?

yes...
the 13B-REW is a twin-turbo with 2 rotors (3rd gen RX7's 93'-02')
the 12A was a 2 rotors NA (1st gen RX7)
the 20B was a 3 rotor (aviation, Mazda cosmo, and I think a Mazda truck had one)

So that's where the infamous apex seals go.

Not sure why you picked those 3 engine codes to define things...but the 20B only came in the cosmo.

ehh, either way it will be interesting to see when its done.

My only question is if your going to spend that much time, effort and money why not do a 6 or 8 rotor, in reading that thread it sounds like others have done 4 rotors before.

Does it really confuse you?

A shame such awesome talent, innovation and skill is wasted on a Wankel :goof

Of course not. You just missed that the 20B was also twin turbo, and a whole slew of 13b's that most people would have used instead of jumping right to the REW. lol.

For anyone else that's still wondering about the engine codes, the number=displacement. 13B - 1.3L.

I want his brain. Now that's an engineer. Wow.

That's what the number before the B means?!

Yea there are some smart cookies out there for sure!

Impressive to say the least. The real test will be to see how it holds up in the long term. You would be amazed at everything the OEM considers when designing an engine.

That's what the number before the B means?!
LOL

It refers to the engine size.
10A = 1.0L
12A = 1.2L (actually was a 1.1L, 1146cc)
13B = 1.3L
20B = 2.0L

Wow. I just read through all of that work and it will be awsome when it is finally done! I never cared for rotory engines cause of how unreliable they were and how often they had to be swapped out but it is an interesting design!

Truck never came with a 3 rotor, but there was a dude who swapped one. There were 2 version of the 12a, with different port types, and there was a single turbo version of the 13b that was put in to the 87-91 rx7 TII's, which was mechanically similar but didn't have the ceramic seals that made the REW a superior engine for power and longetivity
